Billie Eilish’s comment about having “a lot of good sex” came during a retrospective Vanity Fair interview about her year. It followed an earlier Vogue interview in which she said she wished the public knew less about her sexuality and dating life. The remarks appeared in different contexts; neither report identifies a partner or establishes that Eilish reversed her position on privacy.

What did Billie Eilish say about having good sex?

In the eighth installment of Vanity Fair’s annual “Same Interview” series, Eilish looked back on the year and described it as “a year filled with friendship.” She then added: “And yes, I’ve had a lot of good sex. So you’re welcome, Billie.” Rolling Stone UK reported the remarks and pointed readers to the Vanity Fair video.

The comment was part of a year-in-review answer, not a reported discussion of a current partner. Eilish also said: “I’ve done nothing but make friends all year, and gotten so close with people that I wasn’t with before, and became friends with people I used to be friends with again.”

What had she said earlier about her love life?

In a Vogue cover story published online October 8, 2024, Eilish reportedly said she wished people knew nothing about her sexuality or dating life and hoped they would not again. A PEOPLE article republished by AOL on December 19, 2024, quoted her as saying: “I wish no one knew anything about my sexuality or anything about my dating life. Ever, ever, ever. And I hope that they never will again.” The AOL report attributes the statement to the Vogue interview.

HIT ME HARD AND SOFT
  • Billie Eilish's third studio album, HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, released via Darkroom/Interscope Records is her most daring body of work to date, a diverse yet cohesive collection of songs - ideally listened to in its entirety from beginning to end - does exactly as the album title suggests; hits you hard and soft both lyrically and sonically, while bending genres and defying trends along the way

The original Vogue page was not directly accessible for verification here, so the quotation is presented as PEOPLE’s syndicated report of what Eilish said in Vogue, rather than as an independently checked transcript.

Why the two remarks are not necessarily a contradiction

The interviews addressed different things. In Vogue, Eilish was speaking about public access to her sexuality and dating life. In the later Vanity Fair installment, she was reflecting on the year and her goals. Saying she had good sex did not supply details about a relationship or invite a reliable conclusion about who she was seeing.
