Weeks after Stephen “tWitch” Boss died in December 2022, Allison Holker said she found shoeboxes of drugs while preparing his funeral outfit with a close friend. In a January 7, 2025, interview with PEOPLE, Holker described the discovery as frightening. Her account describes what she found and how she interpreted it; it does not establish a formal diagnosis or provide a complete picture of Boss’s health.
What Holker said she found
Holker told PEOPLE that she and a close friend were cleaning a closet and selecting an outfit for Boss’s funeral when she came across shoeboxes containing what she called a “cornucopia” of drugs. She said they included mushrooms, pills, and substances she did not recognize and had to look up on her phone.
“It was really alarming to me to learn that there was so much happening that I had no clue [about],” Holker said. The objects and substances are described through her recollection in the interview; the report does not independently establish what each substance was or the extent of Boss’s use.
What she knew before the discovery
Holker said she had known Boss used marijuana. She told PEOPLE that he sometimes went to the guesthouse after the children were asleep to smoke or drink, which she understood as time for him to recharge. She said the substances she found in the closet were different from what she had known about.

How Holker interpreted the discovery
Holker said reading Boss’s journals and reconsidering conversations after his death changed how she understood the pain he had been carrying. She described him as trying to cope privately: “He was wrestling with a lot inside himself, and he was trying to self-medicate and cope with all those feelings because he didn’t want to put it on anyone because he loved everyone so much.” That is Holker’s reflection, not a clinical assessment or an independently verified account of Boss’s mental health.
PEOPLE’s interview also reported Holker’s description of journal entries alluding to childhood sexual abuse. The detail comes from her account of the journals and is not independently corroborated in the report.
