There is no public production evidence establishing that Hugh Jackman’s arms were digitally enlarged in Deadpool & Wolverine. What is documented is that the Wolverine costume’s musculature was developed digitally around scans of Jackman, then made into a real, wearable muscle suit and costume. The film also used CGI and digital doubles, but that does not answer whether any particular shot altered his arms.
What the costume maker says
FBFX, the film’s costume fabricator, describes a process that began with Jackman’s scans: “We started by digitally developing and perfecting the musculature around scans of Hugh Jackman, building the muscle suit and costume in line with the desired silhouette, in partnership with Marvel’s vis dev team.” (FBFX)

That statement distinguishes digital design from digital alteration of footage. The musculature was digitally developed as part of designing the costume; FBFX then built a physical muscle suit and costume. Its account does not say that Jackman’s bare arms were enlarged in post-production.
How the physical suit was made for movement
FBFX says the suit had to allow flexibility for movement and stunts. It used custom fabrics of different weights for breathability, structure, compression and functionality, alongside vacuum-formed pieces and foam to add shape, strength and protection. FBFX reports making 22 suits for production, plus additional suits for promotion; the company’s page does not state a publication year for that figure.

- Marvel Studios presents their most significant mistake yet. His days as Deadpool behind him, a listless Wade Wilson toils away in civilian life. But when his homeworld is threatened, he reluctantly suits up as he tries to convince Wolverine? oh hell, just watch. Warning: Some flashing-lights scenes in this film may affect photosensitive viewers.
Why the film’s CGI does not settle the arm question
Deadpool & Wolverine used a mixture of practical effects and digital effects. Director Shawn Levy described the spectacle as “a combination of practical effects and digital effects” in an interview published by The Walt Disney Company on July 25, 2024. (The Walt Disney Company)
Production VFX supervisor Swen Gillberg and producer Lisa Marra have described choices about what to build and what to create digitally as decisions shaped by budget, time, practicality, action and camera angles. They discuss digital body parts and digital characters in particular action sequences, while noting that most of the base of one sequence was practical. Those examples show the production used both methods; they do not identify Jackman’s arms as a digital effect. (The Art of VFX)

Framestore reports delivering 420 VFX shots for the film and describes digital doubles in the Deadpool Corps action sequence. That is a vendor-reported project total, not a count of shots in which Jackman’s arms were retouched; Framestore’s project page does not state a publication year. (Framestore)

- Confirmed: the costume’s musculature was digitally developed around scans of Jackman, and the resulting muscle suit and costume were physically built.
- Confirmed: the film combined practical effects with CGI, including digital body parts and digital doubles in some sequences.
- Unverified: whether any individual shot digitally enlarged, reshaped or otherwise altered Jackman’s arms. The production accounts cited here do not directly confirm or deny arm-specific enhancement.
Jackman discussed how the yellow suit’s look came together in a Variety interview published July 11, 2024, but that interview does not confirm CGI arm enhancement. (Variety)
