Watchworthy’s Worthy Services feature was announced in March 2024 to help users see which streaming platforms best match their tastes. It can point to services that seem more or less worthwhile for you, but it does not cancel subscriptions or calculate your household’s full costs. Treat its score as a starting point for a subscription review—not an instruction to cancel.
What Worthy Services does
Watchworthy is a personalized TV and movie recommendation app from Ranker. Its broader product uses preferences and feedback about shows and movies to recommend what to watch. In March 2024, the company added Worthy Services, applying that idea to streaming platforms: the feature estimates how well a service’s catalog fits an individual user’s tastes. TechCrunch reported on the launch, and Ranker described the update alongside a group-recommendation feature called Watch Together.
The score is personal, not a universal rating of service quality. Watchworthy’s recommendations draw on information such as your onboarding preferences, ratings or reactions, and watchlist activity. The available descriptions do not establish that the app automatically reads viewing histories from Netflix, Disney+, or other streaming accounts.

How to use it
Watchworthy’s current product page describes a free app for Apple and Android devices, with personalized recommendations and scores. The exact availability of Worthy Services and the current menu names are not clearly documented on that page, so the steps reported at launch should be treated as historical guidance rather than guaranteed instructions. Check Watchworthy’s current product information or look in the app for equivalent options.
- Set up a Watchworthy profile and identify the services you use, if prompted.
- Rate a range of shows and movies, including more than the genres you already watch. A narrow set of ratings can produce a narrow picture of your interests.
- Build or update your watchlist so the app has a clearer sense of what you might actually watch.
- In the launch-era workflow, users opened Discover, selected Recommended Services, and chose Find Out Now. If those labels have changed, look for Worthy Services or a similar service-recommendation section.
- Review the recommendations and, where available, use Customize to adjust whether the comparison reflects a service’s full catalog or more recent streaming availability.
Launch coverage named services including Netflix, Max, Disney+, Prime Video, Peacock, Paramount+, Apple TV+, Hulu, and Discovery+. The list and catalog coverage may change by time and country; don’t assume every service or title is supported in your region. TechCrunch reported that Watchworthy could help users discover more than 200 services, while the U.S. App Store listing describes support for more than 50 services in its app workflow. What a high or low score means
A higher score suggests that Watchworthy sees a stronger match between your preferences and a service’s catalog. A lower one suggests a weaker match. Neither score tells you whether the subscription is objectively good, the cheapest option, or worth its price for your household.

- It is not a price calculation. The score does not necessarily account for your plan tier, taxes, bundle, annual discount, or add-on channels.
- It is not a viewing guarantee. A service can match your tastes on paper without containing enough titles you intend to watch soon.
- It is not a household consensus. Your individual preferences may not reflect what children, partners, or housemates watch.
- It is not a promise of current availability. Streaming catalogs change, and regional rights differ.
Recommendation systems can also favor what you already like. TechRadar noted this general limitation: a taste-based ranking may steer users toward familiar genres instead of helping them discover something different. Rate a broad sample, and separately consider whether you want to explore new kinds of programming.

Use the score to make a better subscription decision
A service with a modest score may still be worth keeping for a live sports season, a must-watch exclusive, children’s programming, or several other people in the household. A high-scoring service may not justify its cost if you have no plans to watch anything there this month. For a practical review, ask:
- What will we actually watch soon? Make a short list of titles the household expects to watch in the next month or two. A few definite choices can matter more than a large catalog that you rarely browse.
- Where are those titles available now? Check each one before making a decision. A title may be exclusive, temporarily licensed, available to rent, or included with another service.
- What is the real monthly cost? Include the plan tier, taxes, ad-free upgrade, bundle allocation, and add-ons. If you have an annual plan, calculate its monthly equivalent but also check its renewal date and cancellation terms.
- How much will we use it? As a rough comparison, divide the month’s cost by the number of titles your household expects to watch that month. This “cost per planned title” is only a budgeting aid; it does not measure a program’s quality or value beyond that month.
- What else comes with the subscription? A service may be included with a bundle, a retail membership, or a carrier offer. Check whether dropping one part would affect other benefits or save less than expected.
- What would cancellation change? Review the provider’s billing terms, including when access ends, whether a refund is available, and whether you would lose a promotional or grandfathered price. Policies vary by provider.
- When will the titles arrive or leave? Release dates, expiring titles, annual renewals, and seasonal sports can make a service worthwhile for one month rather than all year.
This turns streaming into a timing decision, not a permanent ranking of “best” services. If you subscribe for a short run of titles, note the renewal date and confirm the provider’s cancellation rules. Subscription hopping is less attractive when it means losing a valuable annual discount, bundle benefit, or promotional rate.

Verify titles before canceling
Use Watchworthy to think about taste fit; use a title-availability guide to check where specific programs can be watched. JustWatch searches across subscription, rental, purchase, and free options, and can help you check newly added or leaving-soon titles. Availability can still change, so confirm especially important titles before you cancel.
Catalog information is a potential weak point for any discovery tool. Some Watchworthy App Store reviews complain that availability details were out of date; those are individual user reports, not a measured error rate. The sensible safeguard is the same either way: check a second source before ending a subscription you need for a specific show or film.

Also verify who bills you. A subscription bought through an app store, bundle, or another provider may need to be managed there rather than through the streaming service’s website. Don’t assume cancellation is immediate, refundable, or available on the same terms for every plan.
Watch Together is for group picks, not a billing fix
The March 2024 update also introduced Watch Together, which creates group recommendations based on multiple users’ tastes. Ranker called the recommendations “Group Worthy Suggestions.” This can help a group find something to watch, but a recommendation for a group is not the same as a calculation of each household member’s subscription value. TechCrunch noted that users could add unlimited friends; as a group grows more varied, its shared recommendations may become less precise.
Which tool answers which question?
- “Which service seems to fit my taste?” Watchworthy’s Worthy Services was designed for that kind of recommendation.
- “Where can I watch this particular title?” Use JustWatch or another availability guide, then verify the title before acting.
- “What am I paying across all my subscriptions?” Check your bank or card statements and each provider’s billing page. A taste score is not a spending audit.
- “What might work for a group?” Watch Together or a shared watchlist can help surface common picks, though large groups may get less focused results.
