Published on February 20, 2025, the footage offers a look at the movement and group performance behind the polished visual.
Watch the official rehearsal video
The rehearsal footage is a separate release from the official “Abracadabra” music video. Gaga’s official channel links to both, presenting the rehearsal as a behind-the-scenes counterpart to the completed video: watch “Abracadabra (Rehearsal Video)” on YouTube.
What the rehearsal shows
Gaga performs with an ensemble as the dancers work through the song’s choreography. Rolling Stone Australia reported that more than 40 dancers appear in the rehearsal video; Universal Music Japan described 40 dancers in the finished music-video performance. Those are the outlets’ reported counts, rather than a separately verified tally.
The choreography is by Parris Goebel, who also directed the official music video with Gaga and Bethany Vargas, according to Universal Music Japan’s February 3, 2025 announcement. Rolling Stone Australia also notes that Honey Balenciaga joins early in the rehearsal footage.

How it differs from the finished music video
The rehearsal video foregrounds the performance process: Gaga and the dancers moving through Goebel’s choreography together. The official music video is the completed visual, built around a white-and-red look and a dance battle between light and dark, as described by Universal Music Japan. Its directors are Lady Gaga, Parris Goebel, and Bethany Vargas.
Gaga described the rehearsal clip as “the video before the video,” saying she wanted to share her and Goebel’s process because “this is how the magic is made.” Her statement appeared in a February 27, 2025 post surfaced on Snapchat.
