Yes. NBC canceled the 2022 Quantum Leap revival after two seasons; the decision was reported on April 5, 2024. Its February 20, 2024 finale ended with Ben and Addison together in the past, setting up another journey that never reached the screen.
Was Quantum Leap canceled?
NBC did not order a third season of the revival, which starred Raymond Lee as Dr. Ben Song and followed a new team restarting the time-travel project associated with Dr. Sam Beckett. The cancellation was reported April 5, 2024, after the revival had run for two seasons. The original series, starring Scott Bakula, was a separate five-season run that began in 1989. Why did NBC cancel the revival?
Audience performance was part of the public context, but the available reporting does not establish a single ratings figure as the cause of the decision. TVLine reported that season two averaged 3.6 million viewers and a 0.44 rating in the demo in Live+7 figures, ranking last in audience among 11 original NBC dramas that season. TVLine’s season-two audience report gives those figures.
In May 2024, NBCUniversal programming executive Jeff Bader described Quantum Leap as “just a much softer show, performance-wise” when explaining why Peacock’s consideration of the series differed from the decision involving Law & Order: Organized Crime. TVLine separately described the season’s average as barely 3 million total viewers and a 0.4 demo rating, Live+7; those rounded figures should not be treated as a more precise or directly interchangeable measurement. How did season two end?
The 13-episode second season premiered in October 2023 and concluded with a two-hour finale on February 20, 2024. Hannah’s code offered a way to bring Ben home, but it required someone else to take his place. Addison made the leap and ended up beside Ben in the past. The finale gave the season a resolution while leaving the two characters poised for another adventure. TVLine’s finale coverage details the ending and the showrunner’s comments.
Was a third season planned?
Co-showrunner Martin Gero said the team had mapped the shape of a possible third season, describing the seasons as “standalone novels” with an epilogue pointing toward the future. That was a creative plan, not an NBC order: season three was neither produced nor released. The finale’s setup for Ben and Addison therefore remains an unresolved continuation rather than the beginning of a new season.

For physical media, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment lists Quantum Leap (2022): The Complete Series on Blu-ray and DVD as seasons one and two, comprising all 31 episodes.
