That report did not say she was leaving TODAY. The show’s official team page, updated September 2, 2026, still lists her as co-host of TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle.
What is Jenna Bush Hager’s reported next career move?
NBC New York reported on January 14, 2026, that Bush Hager was taking on an executive-producer role for Protection, an NBC scripted drama described as a story about law enforcement and the Secret Service. The report framed the role as a new career move after 16 years at TODAY. NBC New York’s report is the source for the project and tenure framing.
The available reporting establishes a producing role, not a change in her on-air employment. It also does not establish the drama’s production status, release date, or whether it has aired.
Is she leaving TODAY?
No departure is established by the cited announcement. TODAY’s official team profile lists Bush Hager as co-host of TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle and says she joined the program as a correspondent and contributor in August 2009. The profile was updated September 2, 2026, so the listing supports her continuing co-host role as of that date.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The “16 years” wording comes from NBC New York’s January 2026 headline. TODAY’s profile gives the underlying joining date—August 2009—which is consistent with that tenure framing. The reporting supports treating the on-air role and the reported scripted-drama role as concurrent, not as a confirmed handoff.
What is known about Protection?
The January report describes Protection as an NBC scripted drama centered on law enforcement and the Secret Service. A January 15, 2026 video description from Headline Today also summarized the announcement, but the available information does not supply a verifiable release plan or production update. Headline Today’s video description is a secondary summary, rather than confirmation of when viewers might see the series.
