Yes. Justine Lupe was pregnant while filming Netflix’s Nobody Wants This. She said she got the job during her first trimester, began work at the end of it, and filmed into her second trimester. The “5+ months” wording comes from a launch-day post about the show accompanying her through the first five-plus months of pregnancy—not an exact count of how long she was pregnant on set.

What did Justine Lupe say about being pregnant on set?

Lupe, who plays Morgan—Joanne’s sister—in Nobody Wants This, discussed the experience in an interview on The Drew Barrymore Show. She said she was pregnant when she started the job and while filming. In that interview, she described it as her first pregnancy and said her daughter had been born three months earlier. Source

The “5+ months” phrase comes from Lupe’s post when the series launched. As The Independent reported, she wrote: “This show carried me through my first 5+ months of pregnancy with so much warmth.” The wording describes the stretch of pregnancy the show accompanied her through; it does not give a precise pregnancy week for every filming day. When did filming take place in her pregnancy?

In a 2025 interview, Lupe gave a more detailed outline: she got the job in her first trimester and started at the end of that trimester. She described the first trimester as extremely tiring, then said the second trimester felt reinvigorating. She also said, “I honestly felt my most creative during my second trimester when I was shooting.” ELLE Who What Wear

That establishes a broad sequence—hired in the first trimester, started work at its end, and shot during the second. The interviews do not give a precise filming calendar or week-by-week pregnancy dates, so “5+ months” should not be treated as a calculation of the shoot’s duration.

How did the production adapt her wardrobe?

Lupe said the production team did not know she was pregnant at her first costume fitting, when she was in her first trimester. Costume designer Negar Ali adjusted the original plan as Lupe’s body changed while preserving the essence of Morgan’s style. Lupe also described the wardrobe becoming more covered up, with bomber jackets among the choices. She credited support from Netflix executives, producers, and Ali. ELLE Who What Wear

Lupe also recalled a Gucci skirt ripping open on set at 2 a.m., before colleagues knew she was pregnant. In the post quoted by The Independent, she said the cast and crew thought she was “just rapidly falling apart” and thanked them for supporting her. Her anecdote illustrates one moment from filming; it does not establish when everyone in the production learned about the pregnancy or that the show concealed it throughout the shoot.
