Its streaming service shut down on October 7, 2014, so it is no longer available to subscribe to.
When did Redbox Instant launch?
Redbox Instant began as an invitation-only beta in mid-December 2012. Coinstar said at the time that it expected a general release in the first quarter of 2013; its later annual filing records the actual commercial launch as March 14, 2013. The service was a partnership between Redbox and Verizon.
Coinstar described it as a broadband-delivered movie service paired with physical DVD and Blu-ray rentals from Redbox kiosks. The Federal Communications Commission later reported that Redbox had 36,800 kiosks nationwide in 2015.
What did a Redbox Instant subscription include?
The subscription paired unlimited streaming from a curated movie library with four one-night kiosk rental credits. Coinstar’s February 2013 remarks named Epix, Warner Bros. and Avail TVN among content sources. The digital offering also included electronic movie sales and rentals.

Could customers rent or buy movies without subscribing?
Yes, on Xbox 360. In March 2013, Microsoft said users could buy or rent new releases through Redbox Instant without a Redbox Instant subscription. That did not necessarily make the transactions cost-free: Xbox LIVE Gold or other applicable fees could still be required.
