It can play a local video on repeat and send the stream to YouTube through a clearly documented encoder workflow. VLC is useful inside OBS when you want playlist playback or need VLC’s media support; it is not the stronger default for the complete streaming setup.
The basic approach is the same in India as elsewhere: configure OBS using the settings shown in YouTube Live Control Room, use RTMPS where supported, and choose a resolution and bitrate your actual upload connection can sustain. The official guidance cited here does not specify a separate India-only encoder setup.
OBS or VLC: which should you use?
Use OBS for the full job: looping the video, composing the stream, and sending it to YouTube. OBS’s Media Source has an explicit Loop property, and YouTube documents encoder settings for RTMP and RTMPS workflows.
VLC has a supporting role. OBS can use a VLC Video source for playlist playback, with Loop Playlist enabled by default; that source requires VLC to be installed. The documented workflow is therefore VLC as an optional playback source within OBS, rather than VLC as the assumed streaming destination.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
This is a recommendation based on the documented workflows, not a hands-on performance comparison. The official sources reviewed do not establish a CPU or GPU benchmark, unattended-run reliability comparison, or a claim that VLC cannot stream directly.
Loop a video in OBS and send it to YouTube
- Create a scene and add the video. In OBS, create or select a scene, choose Sources > + > Media Source, and select the local file. OBS documents support for formats including MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF, and WebM.
- Enable looping. In the Media Source properties, enable Loop so playback restarts when the file ends. Preview the scene and check that the transition back to the beginning is acceptable, including its audio.
- Get the stream details from YouTube. In YouTube Live Control Room, create or manage the stream and use the encoder details YouTube displays. Treat the stream key as a password: enter it only in OBS and never publish or share it. For RTMPS, the protocol, endpoint, and application path must match YouTube’s configuration; YouTube’s RTMPS API guidance specifies port 443.
- Set OBS output to match the stream. Use YouTube’s current encoder guidance for the chosen resolution and bitrate. For RTMP/RTMPS, YouTube lists H.264 video, constant bitrate (CBR), a recommended two-second keyframe interval, and a maximum keyframe interval of four seconds. Choose a bitrate that fits both the resolution and the measured upload capacity where the stream will run.
- Start a test and check stream health. Test with the actual file, audio, and motion before relying on the loop. Confirm playback restarts cleanly and watch YouTube’s stream-health messages. YouTube recommends testing before going live; a successful preview does not establish that an unusual file, machine, or connection will remain reliable unattended.
- Go live when the preview and health checks are sound. Start streaming from OBS and confirm the incoming stream in Live Control Room before making it public or scheduling it for viewers.
When VLC is useful inside OBS
Choose an OBS VLC Video source when the job calls for a playlist or VLC-backed playback rather than one local file. Install VLC first, add the VLC Video source in OBS, and configure the playlist there. OBS documents Loop Playlist as on by default. For a single file that simply needs to repeat, the Media Source’s Loop control is the more direct setup.

Settings and protocol choices that matter
RTMPS is the normal starting point
YouTube recommends RTMPS, a secure extension to RTMP. Use the endpoint and application path supplied for your stream rather than substituting a server address from another setup. The RTMPS API guidance specifies port 443. YouTube’s encoder settings describe the recommended encoder configuration, while its RTMPS ingestion guide covers the protocol details.
Match bitrate to resolution and real upload capacity
YouTube provides bitrate recommendations by output resolution. Consult the current table and select the relevant value for your intended output; do not treat one bitrate as suitable for every resolution or connection. Measure upload capacity at the location and on the connection that will carry the stream. A country label alone cannot tell you whether a particular connection has enough stable upload bandwidth.

H.264, CBR, and the two-second recommended keyframe interval (no more than four seconds) are YouTube’s encoder recommendations for RTMP/RTMPS, not independent performance guarantees. Settings guidance: YouTube Help: encoder settings.
Use HLS only when the workflow calls for it
YouTube also supports HLS ingestion for workflows that require it, including relevant HDR workflows. It uses segmented output rather than continuous RTMP ingestion, so YouTube warns that HLS has higher latency. Its setup requirements specify segment durations between one and four seconds, with no more than five outstanding segments. These are HLS requirements, not settings to apply to an ordinary RTMPS stream. See YouTube Help: HLS ingestion and YouTube’s HLS ingestion guide.

What is different for creators in India?
The official YouTube encoder guidance cited here does not call for an India-specific OBS or VLC setting. Configure the stream from YouTube Live Control Room and assess the upload connection where the computer will actually stream. Network quality can vary by provider, location, time, and connection type, so a generic country-level assumption is not a substitute for a test.
Creators should also confirm that they have the rights to the video and audio they stream and follow YouTube’s applicable policies. A video being pre-recorded or played in a loop does not by itself establish that it is permitted to broadcast.

Troubleshooting a video loop
- The video does not repeat: Reopen the Media Source properties and confirm Loop is enabled. For a VLC Video source, check the playlist settings and Loop Playlist option.
- OBS cannot play the file: Confirm the file path is correct and that the format is supported. If using the VLC Video source, make sure VLC is installed. Test the exact file in the intended source before scheduling a long stream.
- YouTube does not receive the stream: Check that OBS has the current stream key and that the protocol, endpoint, and application path match the values shown by YouTube. Do not expose the key while troubleshooting.
- Stream health reports connection problems: Check the upload connection at the streaming location and reduce output resolution or bitrate if the available upload capacity cannot sustain the selected settings. Use YouTube’s current resolution-based bitrate table as the reference.
- The audio or loop transition is wrong: Preview the source with its real audio and watch the end-to-start transition. If the media has unusual codecs or timing, test that exact file rather than assuming a different playback result.
- You are considering HLS to fix latency or connection issues: HLS has higher latency than continuous RTMP ingestion and has its own segmented-output requirements. Choose it only if the workflow calls for HLS; it is not a general-purpose fix for a weak upload connection.
