The restored 1887 bungalow featured in the 1986 film is now home to An’s Gate D5, an airport-themed gelato shop. It makes a compact stop on a pier or downtown visit; the hotel does not describe it as a ticketed house tour.
What to expect at the Top Gun House
The house, originally known as the Graves House, is a Queen Anne Cottage that Mission Pacific describes as an 1887 bungalow. After its appearance in Top Gun (1986), it was moved from its original location at Pacific Street and Seagaze Drive to the hotel’s beachfront courtyard and restored. The 2022 launch announcement and Visit Oceanside’s historical-landmarks guide describe that relocation.
Today, the visit centers on the historic setting and An’s Gate D5. Mission Pacific describes an airport-style check-in counter, a rotating selection of small-batch gelato flavors, and coffee drinks, including nitro cold brew topped with gelato. Orders use the playful “Carry On” or “Checked Bag” format. The hotel currently identifies the business as An’s Gate D5; HIGH-pie, which appears in older accounts, is historical context rather than the current offering.
The hotel reports that An’s was named USA Today’s 10Best “Best Ice Cream Shop in America” in 2024 and 2025. Mission Pacific’s Top Gun House page is the source for the award claim and current shop description.

Plan your stop
- Pair it with a walk. Its courtyard location makes the house an easy optional stop during a visit to Oceanside Pier or downtown.
- Check access details directly. The hotel’s pages do not specify whether there is a house-specific admission fee or reservation requirement, or give parking or accessibility details. Contact Mission Pacific for current answers before relying on any of those arrangements.
- Staying overnight is optional to consider, not a stated requirement. The hotel welcomes visitors to its restaurants and bars, but its pages do not set out a separate admission policy for entering the house. For property and stay information, see the Mission Pacific website.
