Ubisoft’s March 4, 2026 franchise update teased a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and announced a free 60 FPS patch for Assassin’s Creed Unity on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, due March 5. The remake subsequently launched as Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced on July 9, 2026.
What Ubisoft announced about Assassin’s Creed Unity
In its March 4, 2026 update, Ubisoft said a free 60 FPS patch for Assassin’s Creed Unity was coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S “tomorrow”—March 5. The company framed the change as a smoother way to revisit 18th-century Paris and Arno’s parkour. Ubisoft’s franchise update confirms the target frame rate and consoles, but does not specify resolution or graphics modes, or claim a PC patch.

What became of the Black Flag remake
The March announcement teased the project without naming its final release or setting out its features. Ubisoft later released it as Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced on July 9, 2026. Ubisoft describes it as a ground-up remake of the 2013 Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, built with the latest version of the Anvil Engine. Ubisoft’s official game page and its Xbox Wire feature detail the release and its changes.
What Resynced changes
Ubisoft lists new and extended story material, including new missions and scenes featuring original Edward Kenway voice actor Matt Ryan. It also describes reworked combat, more flexible stealth, updated traversal, dynamic weather, and technical upgrades such as ray tracing, micropolygon rendering, and realistic water. These are Ubisoft’s stated features; they are not an independent assessment of how the remake plays or looks.

Platforms and performance modes
Ubisoft lists Black Flag Resynced for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Its PC launch guide names Ubisoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store, as well as streaming availability through GeForce Now and Blacknut; it also says the game is Steam Deck Verified. For PS5 and PS5 Pro, Ubisoft lists three graphics choices. These remake specifications do not describe the separate Unity patch.

Ubisoft’s PC guide also lists support for upscaling, frame generation, software ray tracing on hardware without dedicated ray-tracing capability, and handheld graphics presets.
Single-player, offline play, and online features
Black Flag Resynced is single-player and has no multiplayer mode, according to Ubisoft. The main campaign can be played offline after a one-time internet connection for the download. Online access is required for some Animus Hub features. Ubisoft’s official product page sets out those connection details.

Editions and physical copies
Ubisoft says a physical Standard Edition is sold through local retailers and identifies a Collector’s Edition with physical collectibles. Its launch materials also describe digital packs. The availability of a particular edition depends on the retailer and location; Ubisoft’s information does not establish current stock at any specific store.

Ubisoft reported that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced sold over 3 million copies in its first week. This is the company’s reported figure, not an independently audited sales total. Ubisoft’s investor site is the company’s source for its corporate reporting.
