Is the Star Wars Outlaws demo free, and how long is it?
The demo is free and offers up to three hours of gameplay, according to Ubisoft’s October 23, 2025 announcement and the Xbox Store listing. The time limit makes it a short trial of the game rather than an unrestricted free edition.

Does demo progress carry over to the full game?
No. Ubisoft states that demo saves do not carry over to the base game; the Xbox listing also says there is no save-game carryover on any platform. If you later buy the full game, expect to begin without the progress made in the demo.
What can you do in the demo?
Ubisoft’s announcement describes a sample set on Tatooine, featuring Kay Vess and her companion Nix. The listed activities include:

The Xbox Store describes a similar Tatooine sample, including speeder travel, contracts, Sabacc, exploration and dogfights. Ubisoft’s more detailed activity description is tied to its Switch 2 announcement, so do not assume every platform’s demo is identical.
What platforms is the Star Wars Outlaws demo on?
Ubisoft’s demo FAQ says it is permanently available on most platforms where the game is available, naming Ubisoft Connect, Steam, GeForce Now, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. “Most” is Ubisoft’s wording; availability can vary by country and storefront, so check the local store’s listing before downloading. The Xbox Store independently lists the demo for Xbox Series X|S.

What to check before downloading
- Confirm the listing in your region. Search for the demo in the store or service you plan to use; platform and country access may differ.
- Allow for a fresh start if you buy the game. Demo saves do not transfer, so use the trial to decide whether you like the game rather than to bank campaign progress.
- Check PC requirements against the full game listing. Ubisoft’s store lists Windows 10/11 with DirectX 12, 16 GB RAM and 65 GB of SSD storage for the full game. Its minimum graphics tier is GeForce GTX 1660 6 GB, Radeon RX 5600 XT 6 GB, or Intel Arc A750 8 GB with ReBAR enabled. These are the full game’s published requirements; they do not establish separate requirements for the demo.
What happens after the demo?
The full game is a separate purchase. Ubisoft lists Star Wars Outlaws as developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft, with an August 30, 2024 release date and versions for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2. Check the relevant platform store for the full game’s current listing and terms.
