What Perry said publicly in December 2020
On December 16, 2020, Perry posted on Instagram: “I’m 51, single and wondering what the next chapter in my life will look like.” Entertainment Tonight reproduced the post in its December 17, 2020 report. Perry’s words confirmed how he described his own status at that time; they did not say when the relationship ended.
What was reported about the breakup
Entertainment Tonight cited an unnamed source who said Perry and Bekele had split “some time ago” and were focused on parenting. The report characterized the separation as amicable, but that account was attributed to the source, not to a joint statement or a direct comment from either person. E! News also reported the split on December 17, 2020, and said Bekele had not publicly commented as of that report (E! News).
Accordingly, the public reporting supports that Perry said he was single and that entertainment outlets reported a prior separation. It does not establish an exact date the relationship ended or provide Bekele’s own public account of the breakup.

The relationship and their son
A 2019 People profile identified Bekele as Perry’s girlfriend and reported that they had been together for more than a decade. It described her as a model and documentary filmmaker and identified Aman as their son. Those details describe the relationship before the 2020 reports, not their status today.
In 2022, ABC News described Bekele as Perry’s ex and quoted him calling her an “incredible mother” while discussing raising Aman (ABC News).

What later coverage says about co-parenting—and what it does not
A June 23, 2025 Us Weekly timeline reported that Perry and Bekele continued to have a good co-parenting relationship (Us Weekly). That is information about their parenting relationship, not evidence of either person’s current romantic status.
The cited reports do not establish whether Perry or Bekele is in a relationship as of October 2026. Perry’s 2020 post is a statement about that moment, and the 2025 co-parenting coverage does not update either person’s romantic status.
