Actor Derek Dixon spoke publicly after filing a civil lawsuit against Tyler Perry in June 2025, alleging sexual harassment, assault and retaliation connected to his work on Perry productions. Perry has denied the allegations through his attorney. The lawsuit’s claims are allegations, not court findings.
What Dixon said after filing the lawsuit
In an interview published by the Los Angeles Times on July 11, 2025, Dixon spoke about why he brought the case. “I couldn’t just let [Perry] get away with this,” he said. The Times reported that this was Dixon’s first interview since filing the lawsuit.
Dixon also told the Times: “Everyone deserves to go to work and do their job without their boss trying to have sex with them.” Those statements reflect Dixon’s account and position; they do not establish the lawsuit’s allegations as fact.
What Dixon alleged in the complaint
According to the Associated Press, Dixon filed suit in Los Angeles Superior Court in June 2025 and sought at least $260 million. The complaint alleges a pattern of workplace sexual harassment, assault and retaliation connected to Dixon’s work from January 2020 through June 2024. These are claims made in a civil pleading, not findings by a court.

How Perry responded
Perry denied the allegations through his attorney, Matthew Boyd. In a statement to the Los Angeles Times, Boyd said: “This is an individual who got close to Tyler Perry for what now appears to be nothing more than setting up a scam.” The AP also reported the defense’s characterization of the claims as fabricated and that Perry would not be shaken down. These are the defense’s statements, not judicial conclusions.

The July interview and the later on-camera appearance
Dixon’s July 2025 interview with the Los Angeles Times was described as his first interview since filing. In September 2025, ABC News reported a separate milestone: Dixon’s first on-camera interview since filing. ABC News’ coverage also reported that Perry denied the claims. The two descriptions refer to different interviews.
