Tyler Childers and Chris Stapleton co-headlined Healing Appalachia in 2025—not at a newly announced 2026 event. The festival did not take place in 2026: organizers cited the economic environment and rising production costs, and said resources would go toward the nonprofit’s recovery mission. A return on September 10–11, 2027, at Boyd County Fairgrounds in Ashland was reported as the plan in May 2026, not a guarantee or a ticket announcement.
Did Tyler Childers and Chris Stapleton play Healing Appalachia?
Yes. The Lexington Herald-Leader identified both artists as headliners of the 2025 festival. Stapleton’s official tour listing independently places his Healing Appalachia appearance in Ashland, Kentucky, on September 19, 2025: Chris Stapleton’s tour schedule.
Is Healing Appalachia canceled?
The festival did not take place in 2026. In a May 28, 2026, report, the Lexington Herald-Leader said organizers cited the current economic environment and rising production costs, choosing to direct resources to the nonprofit’s mission instead. The paper attributed the statement “This is not the outcome we wanted” to the festival’s Facebook post.
Healing Appalachia is a fundraising music festival connected to Hope in the Hills, whose stated mission is to support efforts addressing opioid addiction and recovery in Appalachian communities. The organizers’ message, as reported by the Herald-Leader, put the pause in that context: “Although the festival is paused for this year, the need for recovery is not.”
