The figure was a viral claim, not a height established by the show or its makers. The official Peppa Pig pages reviewed for this article do not list her height at all, and the coverage that spread the number did not establish where it came from or whether the screenshot was genuine.
What the viral claim said
The claim was simple and deliberately jarring: a search for Peppa Pig’s height returned a figure of 7 feet 1 inch. Reporting from the period describes it as a Google result rather than a statement from a creator, a broadcaster or a toy company. The number was specific enough to sound authoritative, which is part of why it travelled.
How the screenshot spread
The sequence, as contemporary outlets described it, ran roughly like this:
- Mid-July 2019: Twitter user @Memeulous posted a screenshot of a search result and captioned it “this is terrifying.”
- July 21, 2019: The Daily Dot reported that a seemingly random Google search had told the user that Peppa Pig was over seven feet tall, and noted that the image’s authenticity was unclear, including whether it reflected a real search result or an edited image.
- July 23, 2019: The Times of India repeated the story, giving the figure as 7 feet 1 inch and describing the screenshot as shared on Twitter.
- July 26, 2019: SBS Voices placed the height claim within a broader burst of Peppa Pig memes, describing it as something a Twitter user pointed out “according to Google.”
Each later article largely relayed the earlier ones. None of the coverage reviewed for this piece traces the number to a page, database or person that could be checked independently.

Comparing the sources
The table below sets out what each source establishes and what it leaves open.
| Source | Date | What it reports | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Daily Dot, “Peppa Pig’s Height Has People Completely Freaked Out” | July 21, 2019 | A Google result of over seven feet, shared by @Memeulous with the caption “this is terrifying” | Whether the screenshot was a genuine search result or an edited image; the underlying page or source of the figure |
| The Times of India, “You will be shocked to know the actual height of Peppa Pig cartoon” | July 23, 2019 | A Google result of 7 feet 1 inch, with a screenshot shared on Twitter | Any independent check of the search result; any official basis for the figure |
| SBS Voices, “Peppa Pig is now a gay icon, according to Twitter” | July 26, 2019 | The height claim as one of several Peppa Pig memes circulating on Twitter, attributed to Google | Any verification of the height; the claim’s origin |
| Official Peppa Pig site (Hasbro-operated character and brand pages) | Pages reviewed for this article; no publication date stated | Characters and brand content, including Peppa and other family members | Does not list a height for Peppa or any character. Its absence is not proof that no creator has ever given one. |
Is the 7-foot-1-inch figure official?
No official source reviewed here supports it. The Daily Dot and The Times of India describe the figure as a search result, and the official character pages do not give any height. The only thing the evidence establishes is that a viral screenshot made this claim in 2019 and that major outlets repeated it. It does not show that the figure is correct, that it came from the show’s makers, or that a search engine’s answer was reliable.

The screenshot’s authenticity remains unresolved in the reporting. Screenshots of search results are easy to edit, and the coverage itself flagged that possibility at the time.
Why the number stuck
A height claim works well as a meme because it is absurd, easy to picture and easy to joke about. Peppa is a small pig in a children’s animation, so a figure of more than seven feet invites comparisons and jokes about her family, and the coverage points to basketball comparisons as part of the reaction. The joke depends on the contrast with the character, not on any measurement, which is why the story is best read as internet humour rather than as character information.

How to check a claim like this yourself
- Search for the exact claim and look at the page the result links to, not only the snippet or screenshot.
- Open the original post and check whether the image has been cropped, relabelled or edited.
- Check the official Peppa Pig site for character information. If a height is not listed there, treat any figure from a search result as unconfirmed.
- Look for the same claim in several outlets. Repetition across articles is not independent confirmation when they all cite the same screenshot.
What is safe to say
The 7-foot-1-inch height is a viral claim that spread in July 2019 through a Google search screenshot. The meme itself is real and was widely shared, and contemporary reporting questioned whether the screenshot was authentic. The show’s official character information does not give Peppa a height, so the figure should be presented as a joke that traveled online, not as a fact about the character.
The sources named above are the outlets’ own articles from the dates given; the screenshot itself was not independently verified for this piece.
