Spoilers for Tracker Season 3, Episode 2, “Leverage.” The second half of the Season 3 premiere’s Process story ends with Colter Shaw refusing to let the operation force him to choose between his mother and sister. Colter and Russell appear to disrupt the scheme, but the fate of a possible third student remains unclear.
What happens in “Leverage”?
Picking up after Colter and Russell discover they have disrupted The Process, the episode follows them as they race to find the source behind its chain of events and stop it. CBS describes the episode as 43 minutes long, rated TV-14 V/L, and originally aired October 26, 2025. CBS lists the episode as “Tracker S3 E2 | Leverage.”
The Process uses blackmail to control people
TV Insider’s October 26, 2025 recap describes The Process as an operation that blackmails people into doing terrible things. Its pressure reaches Colter directly when he is asked which family member he would save first: his mother or his sister. He refuses to play along rather than accept the choice the operation is trying to impose.
Colter and Russell disrupt the operation, but one question remains
Colter and Russell appear to put a stop to The Process. However, TV Insider notes that a possible third graduate student could still be involved, and leaves that person’s involvement unresolved. The episode’s available account does not establish every operator’s fate or close every loose end.

What the ending means for Colter
The forced choice is a test of whether The Process can dictate Colter’s actions through fear and leverage. He rejects its terms. Justin Hartley, who plays Colter, told TV Insider, “I’d like to think he’d be able to save both of them.” The comment expresses the character’s instinct, not a resolution of the hypothetical threat.
What changes for Reenie and Russell?
Reenie and Elliot have broken up
A conversation with Russell reveals that Reenie and Elliot are no longer together. Showrunner Elwood Reid told TV Insider that Reenie’s storyline will explore her trauma and her sense of betrayal over Elliot’s dishonesty, while also changing her office and professional world. “We are trying to expand her world a little bit, expand that office,” Reid said.

Russell wants to do good, but has no plan yet
Russell says he wants to use his skills to do something good. Reid told TV Insider that Russell himself does not yet know what he will do next, so the episode establishes an intention rather than a settled new direction.
What “Leverage” sets up later
Season tease, not an Episode 2 answer: Reid said a later episode would touch tangentially on dark things academia had done and raised the possibility of Colter’s father having been involved. That is a longer-range thread, not confirmation that the father was part of The Process in “Leverage.” Reid put it this way: “There were a lot, a lot, a lot of discussions — remember, Colter’s father was an academic.”
