This ranking weighs those qualities as editorial judgment—not an official verdict or fan poll—and includes a few signature gestures and reactions alongside full-body poses. If you’re asking what the most iconic JoJo pose is, Jotaro’s hat-adjusting gesture is a leading contender; the choices below show why the series has so many memorable alternatives.
Why posing is central to JoJo
Unusual posing is part of the series’ visual language, not just decoration between fights. The official anime production notes say the adaptation team singled out the manga’s “unique posing” as one of its characteristic elements to reproduce. A companion production note describes the team’s attention to the source’s compositions and broader visual presentation.
Hirohiko Araki has explained that JoJo’s poses differ from conventional heroic or fighting stances. In commentary from JOJOVELLER, reproduced in a September 2013 interview archive entry, he connects their appeal to fantasy emerging from the reality of the human body. He also names David Bowie’s Heroes album cover as an influence: a pose that seemed still yet carried energy. For Araki, gestures beyond ordinary movement can create an extraordinary impression and make an image easier to remember.
Araki has also discussed JoJo posing alongside Italian art and the weight and gravity of the human body in a 2026 Shueisha Manga-Art Heritage interview. That is useful context for the series’ visual sensibility, but it does not establish that any particular pose comes from a specific artwork.

What are the best JoJo poses?
There is no authoritative top ten. The order here is a considered ranking based on recognizability, visual distinctiveness, character association, theatrical impact and memorability. A pose-like gesture or expression earns a place when it is as strongly associated with its character as a full-body stance.
10. Joseph Joestar’s exaggerated reaction
Joseph’s dramatic reactions turn surprise and alarm into performance. This is an expression-driven choice rather than a formal stance, but that contrast makes it a good example of how JoJo’s visual character can come through in a single instant. One earlier entertainment ranking included Joseph’s “Oh my god/Oh no” reaction among its selections, illustrating how broadly fans and writers may interpret the word “pose”; it was that article’s judgment, not a consensus list (November 4, 2022 ranking).

9. Jotaro Kujo’s hat tug
Jotaro’s small hat-adjusting gesture is memorable precisely because it is restrained. It reads as an unmistakable character beat without requiring an elaborate contortion. Like Joseph’s reaction, it sits at the boundary between pose and signature gesture—and belongs here because the gesture is so tightly associated with its character.
8. Giorno Giovanna’s upright, composed stance
Giorno’s poised presentation makes composure part of the pose. Its appeal is not only the shape of the body but the sense of control it conveys: a still, deliberate image that suits a character who projects resolve. It demonstrates the series’ ability to make a calm stance feel theatrical.

7. Jonathan Joestar’s formal heroic pose
Jonathan’s bearing draws on the recognizable language of the heroic figure: open posture, confidence and a strong, upright presence. That makes his pose a useful contrast with the series’ more unexpected shapes. JoJo does not abandon conventional heroism; it stylizes it until it feels larger than life.
6. Jolyne Cujoh’s angular pose
Jolyne’s poses stand out for their sharp angles and assertive physicality. They feel active even when the character is holding still, giving the silhouette a sense of momentum. That blend of attitude and shape makes her a natural inclusion in a ranking that values visual distinction as well as fame.

5. Josuke Higashikata’s confident stance
Josuke’s pose is memorable because it feels personal rather than generic: the attitude is part of the image, not an accessory to it. A good JoJo pose should tell you something about the character before the action resumes, and Josuke’s confident presentation does exactly that.
4. Bruno Bucciarati’s dramatic lean
Bruno’s sharply arranged posture turns a lean into a composed, almost sculptural image. Its impact comes from the tension between an unusual body angle and an air of control. That is the kind of visual contradiction that helps JoJo poses feel strange without becoming arbitrary.

3. Kars’s elegant, otherworldly pose
Kars makes elegance feel unsettling. The pose’s appeal lies in its deliberate, stylized quality: it presents the character as something beyond an ordinary fighter, rather than simply showing him ready for combat. The result is a strong example of how a pose can build a character’s atmosphere as well as its silhouette.
2. Dio Brando’s commanding pose
Dio’s best-known pose-like moments are theatrical declarations of presence. They are designed to dominate the frame, turning posture into a display of confidence and menace. Few characters better demonstrate the difference between a fighting stance and a JoJo pose: one prepares for action; the other makes an entrance.
1. Jotaro Kujo’s hand-to-hat pose
Jotaro’s hand-to-hat pose takes the top spot for combining a clear silhouette with instant character recognition. It is compact rather than acrobatic, but the gesture, attitude and outline work together so effectively that a small movement becomes an enduring image. It also captures the series’ knack for making a moment of stillness feel charged.

There is no single correct technique: the point is to make a deliberate image, not to reproduce an officially prescribed stance. Choose a pose that feels comfortable and safe for your body, then focus on a readable shape and a clear attitude.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute- Pick a character or mood. Decide whether you want a composed, commanding, playful or dramatic look.
- Build a clear silhouette. Arrange your arms and legs so their outline is easy to read; a simple angle can be more effective than a complicated twist.
- Use the hands and face. A hat adjustment, hand position or expression can make the pose feel character-specific.
- Hold the image briefly, without forcing it. Stop if a position causes pain or strain. JoJo’s visual exaggeration is an artistic effect, not a reason to push your body beyond a comfortable range.
