Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson and Swerve Strickland lead this ranking because their AEW achievements include world-title wins and major-event prominence—not simply fame carried over from WWE. The order is an editorial judgment, not an official AEW list. It weighs documented AEW championships most heavily, then signature-match prominence and continuing roster relevance. AEW’s roster and champion labels can change; the roster snapshot available on October 8, 2026 lists Jon Moxley and Mercedes Moné among its named champions. Check AEW’s current roster for the latest listings.
Top 10 former WWE stars in AEW, ranked
This ranking focuses on wrestlers who have worked for both WWE and AEW. Because the available official career records do not establish WWE histories for every candidate, the list is deliberately restricted to the names for which the supplied material offers clear WWE context or identifies former-WWE status. AEW championship evidence is strongest for the top-ranked names; lower placements reflect a mix of documented AEW significance and the limits of the available comparisons.

1. Jon Moxley
Moxley ranks first for his sustained impact on AEW’s central championship picture. AEW’s title history records him defeating Bryan Danielson for the world championship and identifies him as the first four-time AEW World Champion. Its history gives his cited 2024–2025 reign as 273 days. AEW’s current profile labels him Continental Champion, another sign of his continuing place in the promotion’s title landscape. See AEW’s World Championship history and Moxley’s AEW profile.
2. Bryan Danielson
Danielson’s defining AEW accolade came at All In London, where he defeated Swerve Strickland to win the AEW World Championship. The title history records his reign at 48 days. The reign was comparatively short, but winning the company’s top title on one of its major stages gives him a strong case near the top of a ranking centered on AEW impact. AEW’s title history records the change.

3. Swerve Strickland
Strickland’s rise to the AEW World Championship and his main-event match against Danielson at Wembley make him one of the clearest examples of a former WWE performer establishing a major AEW identity. AEW’s title history says he beat Samoa Joe to win the championship at Dynasty in 2024, holding it for 126 days. His AEW biography says he headlined All In at Wembley Stadium against Danielson in front of “more than 50,000 people”; that is AEW’s description of the event, not an independently audited paid-attendance figure. The biography also notes his music work as Swerve the Realest. Read the title history and AEW’s Strickland biography.
4. Samoa Joe
Joe’s place is built on more than name recognition: AEW’s title history records two championship wins in the period covered by its page, including his loss of the world title to Strickland at Dynasty in 2024. WWE’s biography describes Joe as a veteran who won championships across major promotions and provides WWE and NXT career context. His documented championship role in AEW, combined with that official WWE career context, earns him a place in the upper half of this list. AEW’s championship record; WWE’s Samoa Joe biography.

5. Chris Jericho
Jericho is among the prominent names with both WWE history and an AEW presence, but the material available here does not provide comparable individual AEW milestones to rank him above the wrestlers whose title achievements are documented. His position recognizes his importance as a crossover name while keeping the ranking’s emphasis on demonstrated AEW accomplishments rather than reputation alone.
6. Adam Copeland
Copeland brings major-profile WWE history to AEW, and his name appears in the 2024 AEW Allure checklist. The available evidence does not provide an individual AEW title record or match milestone that can be weighed against the documented world-title achievements above him. This placement therefore reflects his relevance to the former-WWE group, not a claim that the sixth position is an official or definitive measure of his career.
7. Christian Cage
Cage is another established name associated with WWE and AEW. The available material does not establish enough comparable AEW career detail to place him above the four wrestlers with title-history evidence. His ranking is necessarily more provisional than theirs; a fuller comparison would require consistent records of his AEW championships and major matches alongside those of the other candidates.
8. Mercedes Moné
Moné’s inclusion reflects her standing as a prominent former WWE performer and her continuing visibility in AEW: she appears among the named champions in the roster snapshot dated October 8, 2026. The available championship-history material does not give a comparable account of her AEW title record, so her exact place here is less secure than the top four. Confirm the live roster for current labels. AEW roster.

9. Toni Storm
Storm appears in both the 2024 and 2026 AEW Allure checklists, which confirms that the card sets feature her, but a checklist is not a record of wrestling results. The supplied material does not include enough individual AEW milestone evidence to compare her directly with the world champions ranked above. Her position is a cautious inclusion, not a judgment that her AEW career is less significant than every name below her.
10. Another former WWE star?
A reliable tenth name cannot be selected from the available evidence without guessing at a person’s WWE tenure or AEW record. Rather than label an unverified candidate a former WWE star or imply a researched ranking where none is supported, this list stops at nine. The title’s “Top 10” framing is therefore not met by inventing a tenth entry.

A crossover ranking can easily become a list of the most recognizable WWE alumni. That would answer a different question. Here, a documented AEW world-title win or a major-event main event carries more weight than prior fame because the subject is who made the biggest impact in AEW. On that basis, Moxley, Danielson, Strickland and Joe have the clearest evidence in the official AEW material cited above. For the remaining names, the supplied evidence is thinner and does not support a precise, head-to-head order.
AEW Allure cards for fans and collectors
If you also collect wrestling cards, the 2024 AEW Allure checklist names Jon Moxley, Chris Jericho, Swerve Strickland, Adam Copeland, Bryan Danielson, Samoa Joe and Toni Storm. The 2026 checklist includes Strickland, Moxley, Mercedes Moné, Storm and Joe. These checklists establish which wrestlers appear in the sets; they do not establish current stock, retailer prices or availability. 2024 checklist; 2026 checklist.
