A behind-the-scenes clip from Spider-Man: Brand New Day shows Tom Holland approaching the camera in his new Spider-Man costume and asking, “We ready?” The clip is a brief on-set moment, separate from Sony’s official video revealing the suit. The design draws on earlier live-action Spider-Man costumes, but “most comic-accurate of all time” is a fan judgment, not an objective ranking established by the available sources.
What happens in the set video?
In the clip, Holland walks toward the camera while wearing the Brand New Day costume, then asks, “We ready?” The moment gives viewers a look at him in costume on set; it is not the same video as Sony’s formal new-suit reveal. CinemaBlend’s report on the set clip describes the exchange, while Sony published its separate official suit-reveal video on August 2, 2025.
What inspired Holland’s new Spider-Man suit?
Holland said the design was intended as an homage to the suits worn by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, whose Spider-Man characters his Peter Parker had met in Spider-Man: No Way Home. He described the result as “a spider child of all three costumes.” The comments were reported from a Sony behind-the-scenes featurette by ComicBook.com.
Holland also connected the costume to Peter’s resourcefulness, saying the team returned to “that dumpster diver kid who’s retrofitting old tech.” That gives the suit a character-based rationale as well as a visual link to the earlier film designs.

A tactile look, rather than a perfectly smooth finish
Director Destin Daniel Cretton said the costume embraces folds and wrinkles so it feels like material moving around a person. In the featurette remarks reproduced by ComicBook.com, he described the aim as letting viewers “see the human beneath the material.” The intent is to make the suit feel tactile and lived-in, not simply to reproduce another Spider-Man costume stitch for stitch.
Visible design details
GamesRadar’s description of the suit notes raised webbing, folds at the sides and a prominent chest emblem. Those are visual observations, rather than a studio-issued checklist of design features. GamesRadar’s coverage discusses those details alongside the stated influences from Maguire’s and Garfield’s suits.

Is it really the most comic-accurate Spider-Man costume?
There is no objective accuracy ranking in the available reporting. Calling the suit “the most comic-accurate” is best understood as a fan or headline opinion, not a verified comparison. What is supported is more specific: Holland said the filmmakers deliberately drew inspiration from the Maguire and Garfield designs, while Cretton emphasized the costume’s tactile material and visible folds. Those choices describe the design approach; they do not establish that it is more faithful to the comics than every other screen version.

Sony identifies Brand New Day as the fourth Spider-Man movie starring Holland. Its official film page says the story takes place four years after No Way Home, with Peter fighting crime full-time in a world that does not remember him. That premise helps explain why this is a new chapter for the character, though Sony’s synopsis does not say that the costume itself is a direct consequence of the time jump. See Sony’s official film page for the studio’s synopsis and film details.
