TNA Impact drew 173,000 viewers and a 0.04 rating among adults 18–49 for its Jan. 15, 2026 AMC premiere. That was a modest audience in absolute terms, but it was higher than the 80,000–100,000 viewers PWTorch cited as typical for the show on AXS. Later AMC episodes also posted higher reported totals after a Nielsen measurement change. Those figures do not, by themselves, prove that TNA has a “huge problem” or that its AMC deal is failing.
How many people watched TNA Impact’s AMC premiere?
Wrestlenomics reported 173,000 total viewers (P2+) and a 0.04 rating among viewers aged 18–49 (P18–49) for the Jan. 15, 2026 premiere. PWTorch separately confirmed those figures. The premiere aired live at 9/8c from the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas.

The broadcast featured Frankie Kazarian defending the TNA World Championship against Mike Santana and AJ Styles returning to TNA. AMC’s guide listed weekly Thursday broadcasts at 9/8c, an AMC+ live feed and next-day on-demand availability.
How does the debut compare with TNA’s earlier audience?
PWTorch reported that TNA Impact typically drew 80,000–100,000 viewers on AXS on occasions when audience data was available. On that reported comparison, the 173,000-viewer AMC debut was higher—roughly double the cited AXS range. The comparison is not a like-for-like measure of network reach: PWTorch noted that AMC and AXS differed in the number of homes available to them.

The first two AMC episodes were reported at 173,000 and 171,000 viewers. A separate Wrestlenomics report put the Jan. 29 episode at 201,000 viewers and a 0.04 P18–49 rating. These early totals suggest the premiere did not immediately deliver a large audience by the standards of major national wrestling programs, but the AXS figures offer a different and more relevant baseline for TNA’s move.
What happened to the reported audience after Nielsen’s measurement change?
PWTorch reported these viewer totals for seven episodes from Feb. 5 through Mar. 19, 2026, after an end-of-January Nielsen adjustment:

PWTorch calculated an average of 245,571 viewers across those seven episodes and described the totals as tightly grouped. For those episodes, it also reported a 0.03–0.05 P18–49 range, equivalent in its reporting to 44,000–76,000 viewers in that demographic.
The dates and measurement period matter. PWTorch said the end-of-January adjustment meant the first two AMC weeks were lower than they would have been under the revised measurement. The Jan. 15 and Jan. 22 figures should be read as reported at the time, not as directly comparable with later numbers. A precise long-term growth rate across that break would be misleading.

Why Nielsen’s method matters when comparing ratings
Nielsen’s Big Data + Panel approach combines its people-measurement panel with data from cable and satellite set-top boxes and smart TVs. Nielsen described it as an updated national measurement method for the 2025 fall season. Wrestlenomics reported that the approach was in use from Sept. 26, 2025, and cautioned that figures from it are difficult to compare directly with panel-only figures.
Nielsen announced further national measurement enhancements on Aug. 19, 2026, covering household demographic assignment, integrated weighting, Hispanic methodology and automatic-content-recognition tuning adjustment. Nielsen said the changes were intended to improve measurement accuracy and did not guarantee higher ratings. That announcement is another reason to label ratings by period and method rather than treating every reported total as an interchangeable count.

Do the ratings show a “huge problem” for TNA?
They show a modest premiere audience in absolute terms, alongside a debut higher than the cited AXS baseline and a higher reported average across seven later episodes measured after the adjustment. The conclusion depends on which comparison is being made: premiere versus later AMC episodes, AMC versus the AXS audience, total viewers versus the 18–49 demo, or one measurement period versus another.
The available figures do not establish that the AMC deal failed or that the Jan. 15 debut alone signaled a sustained audience crisis. They also cannot settle whether AMC considers the program successful: the reporting cited here does not provide a complete AMC time-slot comparison, a verified commercial target, contractual expectations or episode-level ratings after Mar. 19, 2026. The most defensible reading is narrower: the launch started with 173,000 reported viewers, and the documented post-adjustment stretch averaged more than that, but the data do not support a definitive verdict on the partnership’s performance.
