“Something went wrong” is a generic TIDAL error, not a diagnosis—and it does not by itself mean TIDAL is down. First compare the same account on another network and device, then try the web player at listen.tidal.com. Those checks help separate a service or account problem from a fault with your app, browser, network, or audio setup. Avoid reinstalling until later: it may remove offline downloads, and it cannot fix a server-side incident.
No current TIDAL outage is confirmed here. Check TIDAL’s Help Center for current notices before assuming the problem affects everyone.

First, find out where TIDAL is failing
Try these checks before changing settings or reinstalling:
- Force-close TIDAL, reopen it, and try again.
- Switch from Wi-Fi to cellular data, or try another Wi-Fi network.
- Open TIDAL on another device or in the web player at listen.tidal.com.
- Try a different feature: play a saved playlist, search for a track, or browse the catalog.
- If possible, test direct playback on your phone separately from TIDAL Connect or another integrated player.
| What you find | What it suggests |
|---|---|
| TIDAL works on cellular but not Wi-Fi | Your router, internet provider, DNS, VPN, or network filtering may be involved. |
| The web player works, but the app does not | Look at the app installation, device software, or local app data. |
| It fails on several devices and networks | A TIDAL-side incident or account issue becomes more likely. Check official support channels and retry later. |
| Search fails but saved music plays | This may be a search-specific fault rather than a complete outage. |
| Only one track fails | The problem may be specific to that recording, its availability, or its download. |
| A track appears to play but there is no sound | Check the device’s volume and audio output before treating this as a TIDAL outage. |
| Direct playback works but Connect does not | Investigate the local network or target device’s Connect compatibility. |
Failures can affect only one part of the service. A search error does not prove a track has been removed, and a Connect problem does not establish that TIDAL’s main playback service is down. User reports of isolated search or Connect failures are anecdotal, not confirmation of a wider outage.

General fixes, from least disruptive to most
TIDAL recommends updating the app and device, force-closing the app, clearing cache, trying another network or device, using the web player, and signing out and back in. Follow this order; save a reinstall for later.
- Check the connection. Open another service or website, then switch between Wi-Fi and cellular. If TIDAL works only on one network, investigate that network before altering your account.
- Restart TIDAL. Close it completely and reopen it. If it remains frozen, restart the device.
- Update the app and operating system. Install available updates from the official app store or TIDAL’s download page.
- Sign out, then back in. This can refresh an expired session. Make sure you know which email or sign-in method you used.
- Clear cache or site data. This can remove stale local data. Menu labels vary, and clearing data or reinstalling may sign you out or affect offline content.
- Temporarily test without network blockers. Turn off a VPN, proxy, ad blocker, privacy extension, or restrictive firewall rule long enough to see whether it changes the result. Restore protections afterward if they are not the cause.
- Test elsewhere. Try another device, network, browser, or the web player to narrow down the failing layer.
- Reinstall only if needed. Use an official store or TIDAL’s download page. Check that offline downloads may need to be downloaded again.
See TIDAL’s playback troubleshooting and basic troubleshooting pages for its guidance.
Fixes by symptom
The app will not open, freezes, or crashes
Update TIDAL and the device’s operating system, force-close the app, then restart the device. If the app opens but behaves incorrectly, clear its cache. Test your account in the web player to see whether the problem is limited to the installation. If it still crashes, reinstall from the official app store or TIDAL’s download page. TIDAL’s “TIDAL Won’t Open” guidance also recommends updating, clearing cache, and reinstalling.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTIDAL opens but shows “Something went wrong”
The message could reflect a temporary service fault, expired sign-in, stale local data, network filtering, or an issue with one feature or piece of content. Sign out and back in, switch networks, and try another device. Note whether the error appears across the app or only with one search, playlist, album, or track. Do not reset your password unless your credentials are rejected, you suspect unauthorized access, or another account-specific sign indicates a security problem.

Songs will not play or playback keeps stopping
- Try another track or album to see whether the failure is content-specific.
- Try another network and test the web player.
- Check whether TIDAL is already streaming on another device. TIDAL says an account has one active stream; playback may pause when another client is playing. Stop playback on other devices or sign out of sessions you no longer use.
- For a track downloaded earlier, try offline playback on mobile. Offline playback is useful only if the download and device authorization are still valid.
- Check the selected audio output if playback appears to start without sound.
- Restart the app; clear cache or reinstall only if simpler steps fail.
TIDAL’s basic troubleshooting page describes the single-active-stream behavior. Password changes are relevant when you suspect another person is using the account, not as a routine fix for every playback error.
Search is broken, but music still plays
Search the same title in the web player and on another device. Try browsing an existing playlist, then sign out and back in or clear the app cache. Temporarily test without a VPN, ad blocker, or privacy extension. If search fails across devices and networks while other TIDAL features work, wait and retry; it may be a feature-specific service problem. An error in search alone is not evidence that music has left the catalog.
Login fails or loops back to the sign-in screen
Confirm the email address and sign-in method you normally use, then try the web player. In a browser, clear TIDAL’s cookies and site data, allow cookies, disable content-blocking extensions temporarily, and try another supported browser. A VPN, firewall, or privacy setting may interfere with the login flow. Reset your password only if credentials are rejected or you have a reason to suspect account compromise. If you subscribe through Apple, Google Play, or a partner, that provider may manage the subscription.

TIDAL Connect does not find or play on a device
Connect depends on the local network and compatible target device, so a Connect failure alone does not mean TIDAL is down. Put your phone and target player on the same local network, restart both, and temporarily disable a VPN. Test direct playback on the phone or web player, and try the target manufacturer’s own app if available. Check TIDAL’s supported devices list; compatibility differs by device and feature.

Music plays, but there is no sound
Check mute and volume, then confirm that audio is routed to the intended Bluetooth, HDMI, USB, or built-in output. See whether other apps produce sound and test another output device. On a computer, check sound-driver updates and system output settings. TIDAL’s no-sound guidance covers volume, outputs, drivers, and testing another source.
Downloaded music will not play offline
Check that the device is still registered for offline use, that you are signed in to the right account, and that the subscription is active. Try streaming the same content online. If only one download fails, remove and download that copy again if practical. TIDAL’s account management guidance says the account portal includes offline-device controls and that downloads are supported on up to five devices.
Browser and web-player checks
If the web player fails, or login keeps returning to the start, try these steps:

- Clear TIDAL’s cookies and site data, or open the site in a private window to test without existing site data.
- Disable extensions one at a time, especially ad blockers and privacy tools. Turn off VPN or proxy routing temporarily.
- Check that your firewall or antivirus software is not blocking TIDAL.
- Allow protected-content playback (DRM) in the browser.
- Try another supported browser. TIDAL’s download page identifies Chrome and Firefox for lossless web playback; support and available quality may vary by browser and version.
For Brave, TIDAL’s troubleshooting instructions say to disable Shields for TIDAL and toggle Widevine under Settings > Extensions > Widevine. Browser labels and paths may change by version. Consult TIDAL’s browser troubleshooting steps for current guidance.

Mobile troubleshooting
iPhone and iPad
- Update TIDAL in the App Store and install available iOS or iPadOS updates.
- Force-close and reopen the app; switch between Wi-Fi and cellular.
- Sign out and in again. If the app’s login flow opens a browser and loops, check Safari cookie and privacy settings and test without content blockers.
- Reinstall as a later step, keeping in mind offline downloads may need to be restored.
A reported login case has been attributed by TIDAL support to Safari cookie restrictions, but that is an anecdote, not a universal explanation.
Android
- Update TIDAL and Android, then restart the phone.
- In many versions, the cache control is under Settings > Apps > TIDAL > Storage > Clear cache. Phone manufacturers use different labels and layouts.
- Check whether battery saver or background-data restrictions are interrupting playback. For Connect, allow local-network access if your Android version or device requests it.
- Test on mobile data, then reinstall only if updating, restarting, and clearing cache do not help.
Windows, Mac, and desktop-app checks
Update TIDAL and your operating system, then restart the computer. Test listen.tidal.com to distinguish an app problem from a broader account or network issue. Check firewall and antivirus permissions, clear the app cache or reset its local data if the app provides that option, and verify the selected sound output. On Windows, check for sound-driver updates. Reinstall using TIDAL’s official download page; do not use unofficial installers or repair utilities.
TIDAL’s current supported-devices page lists Windows 10+ and macOS 14+ for desktop support. Requirements can change, so check that page if your operating system is older. The download page provides separate Intel and Apple-silicon Mac downloads.
Check your subscription and account
If the error accompanies a failed login, missing offline access, or a subscription warning, sign in at account.tidal.com. TIDAL says the portal shows subscription details, renewal date, payment information, billing history, and offline devices. If you subscribed through Apple, Google Play, or a telecommunications partner, billing and cancellation may be managed there rather than directly by TIDAL; see TIDAL’s subscription cancellation guidance.

Take possible account compromise seriously if your password stops working unexpectedly, your email or plan changes, playlists or favorites are altered, or an unfamiliar service is connected. Follow TIDAL’s account security guidance, change your password, and update the account email if needed. A password reset is not a general remedy for a local app or network problem.
When to wait, and when to contact support
Waiting and retrying is reasonable if the same feature fails on multiple devices and networks, the problem began suddenly without a device change, or reinstalling made no difference. Reinstalling cannot repair a service-side incident and can cost you time restoring downloads. If TIDAL works through one integration but not another, troubleshoot that device or connection rather than assuming the entire service is unavailable.
Contact TIDAL if the problem persists after testing another device and network, you cannot access the account, subscription information is wrong, one track or album consistently fails, a supported device still fails after reinstalling, or you suspect unauthorized access. Use the support request form and include:
- The exact error text, plus the date and approximate time and your time zone.
- Your country or region, device model, operating-system version, and TIDAL app version.
- Your browser name and version if the web player is involved.
- Whether you were on Wi-Fi, cellular, or another network, and whether VPN or filtering software was enabled.
- Whether TIDAL works on another device, network, or feature.
- A link to the affected track or album, if applicable; TIDAL says this helps with playback investigations.
- Screenshots or a screen recording, and the troubleshooting steps you have already tried.
TIDAL lists its Help Center, virtual assistant, request system, and @TIDALSupport on X as support routes. The Help Center lists X support hours as daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern Time; check the support page for current availability.
