Thragg and Battle Beast’s fight runs from Invincible #115 through #120, according to a 2025 report quoting series co-creator Robert Kirkman. Calling it the series’ “most brutal” is a persuasive fan judgment, not a verified ranking—but Kirkman himself treated the clash as a standard a later Battle Beast comic would need to surpass.
Who fights, and which issues contain the battle?
The combatants are Thragg, the Viltrumite leader, and Battle Beast, a warrior whose appetite for formidable opponents makes the confrontation especially consequential. ComicBook.com reported that the fight begins in Invincible #115 and concludes in #120. That gives readers a clear six-issue span to track in the comic.
ComicBook.com’s March 20, 2025 report describes the battle as one of the comic’s iconic confrontations. The issue endpoints are the most useful guide for finding the story; the available sources do not establish a specific collected edition containing all six issues.
Why is it called Invincible’s most brutal fight?
“Most brutal” captures how many readers regard the clash, but brutality is not an objectively measured series statistic. A comparison could mean the injuries shown, the fight’s duration, its destructive scale, its effects on the characters and story, or its reputation. Those measures can point in different directions, and the sources do not rank every major Invincible fight against the same criteria.

There is, however, strong evidence that the confrontation mattered to the people making the comic. In the ComicBook.com interview report, Kirkman said: “I feel like it would be a crime to come back to Battle Beast for a comic book series and not try to top that Thragg fight.” The remark makes the fight a creative benchmark for Battle Beast’s later stories—not proof of an official series-wide title.
Who wins between Thragg and Battle Beast?
The comic’s conclusion gives the fight its significance, but reducing it to a simple “who is stronger?” contest misses the characters’ different aims and attitudes. A secondary recap hosted by Podscan.fm recounts the ending and Battle Beast’s outlook on the result; it is commentary, not the primary text. For exact panel-by-panel details or wording, the comic itself is the reliable source.

In publication terms, it spans issues #115 to #120, inclusive. That is six issues, not a measure of how much time passes within the story. The sources cited here do not establish an exact in-world duration.

Image Comics lists Invincible Universe: Battle Beast Vol. 1: Heart of Glory, a collection of the first six issues of the separate Battle Beast series. It is related reading about the character, not a collection of the Thragg confrontation in Invincible #115–#120.
