Thomas Krottinger competed on Survivor 48, but the available interview behind the headline does not identify his record-label friend as a Grammy-winning pop star. Krottinger said he had a good friend who worked at a record label; he did not name her or connect her to a particular artist. The season has since ended: Krottinger was voted out on Day 9, and Kyle Fraser won.
What Thomas Krottinger said about his friend
In a February 9, 2025 interview with Parade, Krottinger described a good friend who worked at a record label when asked what work experience might prepare him for Survivor. He said, “I have a very good friend, she works at a record label.” He did not give her name.
That interview does not say the friend was a Grammy winner, a pop star, or the person described as a “pop princess” in the headline. It therefore does not establish which artist the headline may be referring to. Naming one would go beyond what the cited account supports.
Who is Thomas Krottinger?
Krottinger described himself in the Parade interview as a vice president in A&R at a music-publishing company. He said the role involved finding people who make music and helping them make it. He characterized his work as behind the scenes: “I’m definitely behind the scenes, in the DNA of songs, as opposed to the marketing, the music video, creative direction, that part of the business.”

Survivor 48 featured 18 castaways. Krottinger was voted out on Day 9. Kyle Fraser won the season, with Eva Erickson as runner-up and Joe Hunter in third place, according to the season overview.
A separate relationship from the show should not be confused with Krottinger’s unnamed friend. In a dated finale report, CBS News reported that Erickson and Hunter formed an alliance on day one and reached the final five together. Erickson said, “We’ve been together since day one.” That is an on-show alliance, not evidence about Krottinger’s friend.
