The Attitude Era’s women were more than a single division or a handful of famous moments. They were champions, managers, interviewers, rivals and sharply drawn characters. These ten performers left different marks on WWE, from Ivory’s Right to Censor turn to Jacqueline’s rare crossover into the men’s Cruiserweight division. “Forgotten” here is a nostalgic hook, not a claim about what fans remember: several names are famous, but parts of their careers can get lost in the retelling.
Champions who shaped the women’s division
Ivory: a titleholder with a provocative faction turn
Ivory joined WWE in 1999 and won the Women’s Championship three times. Her Right to Censor alignment became one of the defining turns in her Attitude Era story. A particularly strong snapshot of her in-ring standing came in 2000, when she defeated Lita, Trish Stratus and Jacqueline in a Fatal 4-Way to win her third Women’s Title. WWE inducted her into its Hall of Fame in 2018. WWE’s Ivory profile

Jacqueline: a champion who crossed divisions
Jacqueline’s career is difficult to sum up with a single division. She defeated Sable for the returning Women’s Championship, won the title again in 2000, and later answered Chavo Guerrero’s open challenge to become WWE Cruiserweight Champion. WWE also notes that she worked as an official and trainer, as well as a full-time competitor. Her Hall of Fame induction came in 2016. WWE’s Jacqueline profile
Molly Holly: more than one famous WrestleMania moment
WrestleMania XX’s head-shaving match is often the first Molly Holly moment people recall, but it is only one piece of her WWE career. She held the Women’s Championship twice and had title programs against Trish Stratus, Lita, Gail Kim and Victoria. Those rivalries show a sustained place in the division, not merely a memorable stipulation. WWE inducted her into its Hall of Fame in 2021. WWE’s Molly Holly profile

Jazz: a hard-hitting rival to Trish Stratus
After making her name in ECW, Jazz arrived in WWE and immediately set her sights on Women’s Champion Trish Stratus. WWE highlights their demanding matches, including a Hardcore Match and the Triple Threat at WrestleMania XIX. Jazz twice defeated Stratus for the Women’s Title, giving their rivalry real championship stakes. WWE’s Jazz profile
Managers, interviewers and characters who stood out
Luna Vachon: an imposing presence in and out of the ring
Luna Vachon was a second-generation wrestler who worked as both a competitor and a manager. She pursued the Women’s Championship through 1999 and managed Gangrel before leaving WWE in early 2000. She did not win WWE’s Women’s Championship, but her imposing persona and hybrid role made her a distinctive presence. In a 2007 remark quoted by WWE, she said: “In a world full of butterflies, it takes guts to be a caterpillar.” WWE’s Luna Vachon profile and WWE’s retrospective on impactful women
Terri Runnels: from ringside stories to an unlikely Hardcore title
Terri Runnels’ WWE story connected her to Goldust, the Pretty Mean Sisters pairing with Jacqueline and, later, backstage interviews on Raw. Her varied roles made her part of the era’s on-screen fabric beyond a conventional wrestling rivalry. In 2002, while interviewing backstage, she won the Hardcore Championship by pinning Steven Richards. WWE’s Terri Runnels profile
Famous names with careers worth revisiting
Sable: a major star with a career beyond one image
Sable is hardly an obscure name, but her WWE career covered more than the image that often dominates retrospectives. She won the Women’s Championship at Survivor Series 1998, then had rivalries involving Luna Vachon and Debra before leaving WWE in 1999. Looking back at those feuds restores some of the competitive context around her time in the company. WWE’s Sable profile

Chyna is one of the Attitude Era’s most recognizable figures, but her achievements reach beyond her role as an original D-Generation X member. WWE records that she won both the Intercontinental and Women’s Championships, and became the first woman to qualify for King of the Ring and the Royal Rumble. Those milestones make her career notable not just for her faction association, but for the divisions and competitions she entered. WWE’s Chyna profile
Trish Stratus: the manager who became a champion
Trish Stratus entered WWE in March 2000 as a manager and later became one of its defining Women’s Champions. Her first Women’s Championship win came in November 2001, beginning a run that reached seven title reigns. Remembering her early role alongside her later championship career helps explain why she appears at the center of so many rivalries from the period, including those with Ivory, Molly Holly, Jazz and Lita. WWE’s Trish Stratus profile
Lita: a central rival in the era’s title picture
Lita’s name belongs in this story not as an obscure pick, but as a key rival whose matches and title pursuits linked several of the other women here. She was one of the three challengers Ivory defeated in the 2000 Fatal 4-Way for her third Women’s Championship, alongside Trish Stratus and Jacqueline. The match is a reminder that the era’s women’s division was a web of competing stars rather than a sequence of isolated careers. WWE’s Ivory profile

Some of these women are remembered mainly for championships; others for management, interviews, factions or a particular match. WWE’s profiles document accomplishments and storylines, but they do not measure how often fans remember each performer. The list is therefore a set of distinct paths through the era, not a ranking of who was most overlooked.
