A detailed Deadpool 3 plot circulated online in 2023, and it was easy to see why fans hoped it was true. But the account behind it was an alleged 4chan post reposted on Reddit, and BGR said it could not verify the story. The film has since been released as Deadpool & Wolverine; Marvel’s official summary confirms a broad premise, not every detail in the rumor.
What the 2023 plot leak claimed
In an April 27, 2023 article, BGR’s Chris Smith described a plot attributed to an alleged 4chan post that had been reposted on Reddit. The post’s author was not identified, and the article did not establish that the person had access to production information.
As BGR reported it, the rumor said the Time Variance Authority would arrest Deadpool for time travel and assign him to eliminate a rogue timeline ruled by Magneto. In that world, a Wolverine would be involved, the Fox X-Men would join Magneto, and the conflict would bring in the Avengers. These were claims attributed to the post—not confirmed details about the film.
Smith explicitly cautioned that the account could not be verified and might be fan fiction. He wrote: “The plot leak can’t be verified at this time, but I really hope that it’s real.” That was his view when the article appeared, not evidence that the rumor was later authenticated. Why it sounded so appealing
The rumored setup offered a collision of elements fans could readily imagine in a multiverse story: Deadpool and the TVA, a Magneto-led timeline, the Fox-era X-Men, Wolverine, and the Avengers. Its appeal is separate from its reliability. A plot can feel like an exciting fit for a franchise without having come from someone who knows what the filmmakers planned.
BGR also offered its own explanation for how the rumor might connect to the films. Smith discussed Deadpool 2’s time-travel device, MCU timeline rules, TVA pruning, and possible incursions. His article speculated about links to Logan, Magneto, Thor’s hammer, and possible character returns. Those ideas were the writer’s interpretation and speculation; they should not be mistaken for additional claims verified by the original post or for an explanation confirmed by Marvel.

What Marvel’s released film information confirms
Marvel’s official page calls the film Deadpool & Wolverine and lists its release date as July 26, 2024. Its overview says Wade Wilson must suit up again to face a threat to his homeworld and convince a reluctant Wolverine to help. The page names Shawn Levy as director and lists Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen among the cast. See Marvel’s official film page.
That short overview gives useful context, but it is not a scene-by-scene synopsis. It does not establish every element of the 2023 post, nor does it provide enough detail to issue a reliable point-by-point verdict on all of them. The careful conclusion is therefore limited: the rumor was unverified when BGR reported it, and Marvel’s brief official summary does not settle every specific claim.
