Proshka, a Brussels Griffon from Sheffield, England, drew attention for looking like Gizmo from Gremlins—and, to other viewers, Chewbacca from Star Wars. Daily Paws featured the dog on February 15, 2022, also noting comparisons to Oscar the Grouch and a costume video that called to mind characters from Grease and Teen Wolf.
Why people compared Proshka to Gizmo
Proshka’s shaggy appearance prompted the most prominent comparison in Daily Paws’s feature: Gizmo, the mogwai from Gremlins. The resemblance is a playful visual judgment, not a claim that the dog is connected to the film or its character.
The same feature mentioned Chewbacca from Star Wars and Oscar the Grouch as other familiar faces Proshka brought to mind. A costume video inspired additional comparisons to John Travolta in Grease and Scott Howard from Teen Wolf.
Who is Proshka?
Daily Paws identified Proshka as a Brussels Griffon owned by Stefani Doherty, whom the article placed in Sheffield, England. He was reported to be two years old when the story was published; that is an age at the time, not a current age.

- Our teeny squeaky toys are perfect for little mouths.
- Made especially for small breeds and tiny puppies, these adorable toys are soft-plush (not overly hard-stuffed) so that the squeaker inside are easy to squeak and super irresistible.
- Tested by lots of little breed dogs, these teeny toys were chosen over and over again, over harder, larger squeaky toys.
- Measurement varies per style: length 5-7" and width 3-5".
- Important: For gentle chewers only. This toy is NOT for strong or aggressive chewers and are for SMALL dogs ONLY. As with all toys, please monitor any dog when playing with our toys.
The article also reported that Doherty had more than 16,000 Instagram followers as Proshka’s images circulated online. That figure reflects the 2022 feature and is not a verified current count. In a comment on one of Proshka’s photos, Doherty wrote: “Thank you for the love everyone. We appreciate it.”
