Tatsuki Fujimoto’s path to Chainsaw Man began with a one-shot that earned an Honorable Mention, continued through the eight-volume series Fire Punch, and includes acclaimed standalone work such as Look Back. Before Chainsaw Man, Fujimoto earned recognition for a one-shot
Fujimoto’s debut one-shot, “Love Is Blind,” received an Honorable Mention in the November 2013 Shueisha Crown Newcomers’ Awards, according to VIZ Media’s creator biography. That distinction is an Honorable Mention, not a first-place win.

Fujimoto has described repeatedly returning to Ghibli films
In a Shueisha Online interview published July 21, 2023, Fujimoto recalled seeing Spirited Away as a child in a theater with every seat occupied. He said he watched while standing, remembered the experience as lasting, and still revisits the film.

He also discussed watching Princess Mononoke hundreds of times while working on manga manuscripts. Fujimoto singled out Ashitaka’s position between human society and the forest as part of what he admires about the character. These are his recollections and opinions, rather than independently documented details of his childhood or creative routine.
