What season three follows
After the Forsaken are released, danger spreads across several fronts. The White Tower is divided, the Black Ajah are at large, and old enemies threaten the Two Rivers. Rand is pursued by the remaining Forsaken, particularly Lanfear, as his ties to his past unravel and his corrupted power grows stronger. Moiraine and Egwene try to keep him from turning to the Dark.
The season’s central tensions are not only about who can wield power, but who can guide or control it. Rand’s changing relationship with his allies runs alongside political fractures among the Aes Sedai and the threat gathering around the Two Rivers. Sony Pictures’ official series page and Amazon’s season announcement summarize these stakes.

How season three relates to The Shadow Rising
Amazon identifies The Shadow Rising (1992) as the season’s source novel. It is book four of Jordan’s saga. Readers comparing the two should treat the novel as a reference point, not a scene-by-scene blueprint: television adaptations can rearrange, combine, or alter story material. Keep claims about what happens in the show distinct from claims about book canon.
For a direct comparison, track three threads: Rand’s alliances and the threat posed by Lanfear; the White Tower’s political divisions and the Black Ajah; and the show’s handling of the Two Rivers. Amazon’s book guide provides the series context and identifies the season’s source novel.
