In “La Justicia Fronteriza,” Los Primitivos attack Solaz del Mar—and the defenders’ first victory does not end the danger. Flaming walkers are sent into the settlement, turning the dead into weapons and giving the siege its most frightening escalation. The episode also makes death personal for Valentina’s crew and ends with Daryl, Carol, and Antonio following Roberto toward an unresolved confrontation.
What happens in “La Justicia Fronteriza”?
Daryl and Carol are with Valentina and her crew on the boat when Cooper is struck by an arrow and Los Primitivos launch their attack. Cooper later reanimates. Carol comforts Valentina while Daryl deals with Cooper as a walker, bringing the danger of the wider assault into the group’s immediate circle. The plot details are described in Undead Walking’s September 28, 2025 recap.
Why are the flaming walkers the episode’s standout horror image?
The assault on Solaz del Mar initially appears to be a fight the defenders can contain: they push back the attackers. Then flaming walkers are launched into the settlement, renewing the danger after the first wave. The tactic changes the walkers from a familiar hazard into an offensive weapon aimed at the community itself.
That escalation is the basis for saying the walkers feel terrifying again here. It is a critical response to the sequence’s staging and tactical use of the undead, not a claim that every viewer or critic agrees. Both Absolute Geeks’ review and Starburst’s episode review highlight the flaming-walker battle.

What does the attack cost Valentina’s group?
Cooper’s death and reanimation give the episode a quieter, more intimate counterpoint to the spectacle of the siege. Valentina has to face the loss while the survivors are still under threat; Carol offers comfort, and Daryl handles the walker. The moment connects the group’s immediate grief to the world’s constant practical danger: a death can quickly become another threat to the living.
What does “frontier justice” mean in the episode?
After the battle, Fede uses a captured attacker in a walker execution, an act the recap presents as “Frontier Justice.” The episode’s title, “La Justicia Fronteriza,” points toward justice shaped by a violent frontier, where punishment and survival are entangled. The execution adds a moral dimension to the aftermath without reducing the episode to a single theme.

Roberto leaves to pursue Justina. Daryl, Carol, and Antonio follow and come upon a wrecked car. Flashbacks and the damaged vehicle build uncertainty around what happened to Roberto and Justina, leaving their situation unresolved at the episode’s end. Undead Walking’s recap describes the sequence as a cliffhanger; the available episode reviews likewise focus primarily on the siege rather than establishing a definitive outcome.
