Sam Reid performs as vampire Lestat, and series composer Daniel Hart wrote the original music and lyrics. Hart has said David Bowie—and specifically the Ziggy Stardust era—influenced the character’s musical style and persona.
What is “Long Face”?
“Long Face” is an in-world rock song for Lestat de Lioncourt, the vampire played by Sam Reid. AMC Networks and Lakeshore Records released it digitally on February 13, 2026, describing it as the first official rock single for The Vampire Lestat. AMC named Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music among the services carrying it. AMC’s release announcement does not establish a physical single or a soundtrack edition.
Hart wrote the song’s music and lyrics. AMC also says he wrote more than twenty songs for the season, placing “Long Face” within a larger set of music created for the series rather than presenting it as an isolated tie-in.
Why is the song linked to David Bowie?
The Bowie connection is a stated creative influence, not just a comparison inferred from the song’s rock-star premise. In AMC’s announcement, Hart said: “We decided early on to make David Bowie a big influence for Lestat’s musical style and persona, and there’s certainly some Ziggy Stardust in this song.” In a June 9, 2026 interview with TV Insider, Hart later called it “very obviously a sort of homage to David Bowie and glam rock.”

Reid’s Bowie reference concerns his acting, rather than the song’s composition. In a July 16, 2026 interview with Assignment X, he said he watched recordings of Bowie’s live Cracked Actor concerts to remind himself that Lestat is “not human” and “supernatural.” Reid described a performance reference for shaping the character’s stage presence; he did not say the series recreates Bowie’s performances.
How does the single fit the series?
The Vampire Lestat is the title of the third season of AMC’s Interview with the Vampire, based on Anne Rice’s 1985 follow-up novel of the same name. The season’s premise turns Lestat into a touring rock performer: AMC describes him embarking on a multi-city tour as his fame affects both vampires and humans. The season stars Reid as Lestat, and AMC names AMC and AMC+ as its platforms.

The release therefore works on two levels: it introduces music associated with the fictional performer, while serving as a real digital single credited to Reid and Hart. The available announcement identifies digital services but does not specify a physical release or a season soundtrack.

AMC’s release announcement names Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music as places to find “Long Face.” Availability can vary by service and territory. For the literary source behind the season, Anne Rice’s The Vampire Lestat (1985) is the novel adapted; the TV series is an adaptation, not a documentary account of a real rock performer.
