The Rock’s most recognizable lines include the recurring “Can you smell what The Rock is cooking!” catchphrase and the “Finally… The Rock has come back” refrain. This is a curated selection, not an official ranking: the available sources do not establish a definitive order, a popularity measure, or when these lines were first used.

Recurring catchphrases and promo lines

These lines are associated with The Rock’s wrestling persona. IMDb’s curated quotes page lists each, while WWE’s dated coverage and an episode transcript provide additional context for two of them.

“Can you smell what The Rock is cooking!”

A signature catchphrase candidate listed on IMDb’s quotes page. In its coverage of Dwayne Johnson’s return as host of WrestleMania XXVII, WWE used the variant “Can you smell what Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is cookin’?” The wording and punctuation vary, and that 2011 use does not establish when the line originated. WWE’s February 14, 2011 Raw coverage.

“Finally… The Rock… has come back to [whatever city he’s in at the time]”

IMDb lists this as a templated return refrain. Its transcript of the February 14, 2011 Raw episode records a specific version: “Finally… The Rock has come back to Anaheim! Which means finally, The Rock has come back to Monday Night Raw!” The transcript then records: “Which means finally, The Rock has come back… home.” These are lines from that particular return promo, not evidence of the phrase’s first use. IMDb’s episode transcript.

“It doesn’t matter what you think.”

IMDb includes this short line among Johnson’s quotes. It is a recognizable catchphrase-style candidate, but the curated listing alone does not establish a particular performance or occasion.

“You will go one on one with the Great One!”

Also listed on IMDb, this is a wrestling-promo line addressing an opponent. The available listing does not identify a specific match or date for its use.

“Who in the blue hell are you?”

IMDb’s quote listing includes this confrontational line. Without a dated performance attached to it there, it is best treated as a quote candidate rather than a precisely attributed moment.

Quotes that are not necessarily wrestling catchphrases

IMDb’s listing also includes motivational or personal statements, such as “No matter who you are, being kind is the easiest thing you can do” and “Success isn’t overnight. It’s when every day you get a little better than the day before. It all adds up.” These are general statements, not necessarily lines from The Rock’s ring persona. The listing is secondary attribution; without an original interview, post, or recording, these should not be presented as verified exact quotations.

What the sources establish

  • WWE’s February 14, 2011 coverage connects its “Can you smell” wording to Johnson’s announcement as host of WrestleMania XXVII.
  • IMDb’s transcript records the “Finally” refrain in a specific Anaheim return promo on Raw on February 14, 2011. It is a secondary transcript, so the episode recording is the stronger reference for exact delivery and punctuation.
  • The sources do not establish who coined these lines or when each was first used.
  • No reviewed source provides a measured popularity ranking or statistic for the quotes.
