Shawn Hatosy won the 2025 Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for playing Dr. Jack Abbot on The Pitt. After the win, he used a red-carpet interview to thank his sister Tanya for her longstanding support and to praise co-star Noah Wyle’s leadership.
Hatosy’s 2025 Emmy win
The Television Academy lists Hatosy as the winner of Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his performance as Dr. Jack Abbot in The Pitt. The category was presented at the Creative Arts Emmy program on September 6, 2025—not at the Primetime Emmy ceremony. The Academy’s 2025 Creative Arts results record the category and recipient.
He made sure to thank his sister Tanya
In a post-win red-carpet interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hatosy was asked whether there was anyone he had forgotten to thank. He recalled that his sister Tanya was missing from his acceptance speech, then expressed his gratitude: “My sister, I wouldn’t, my sister Tanya, I wouldn’t, you know, she’s always supported me.” The transcript preserves his spoken hesitation; the point was clear—he wanted to recognize her enduring support.
Hatosy praised Noah Wyle’s leadership
Hatosy also spoke warmly about co-star Noah Wyle, saying, “Noah is, I said it in my speech, he’s an incredible leader.” He explained that Wyle gives his scene partners a genuine performance even when the camera is not focused on him—such as when it is showing Wyle’s back or a wide shot. Hatosy had made the same appreciation part of his acceptance speech, telling Wyle, “Your leadership, your performance on ‘The Pitt’ is extraordinary,” and adding, “It is unbelievable being on the other side of what you’re bringing.” The speech quotes were reported by the Associated Press.

Why the interview dates can be confusing
A separate TV Insider exclusive published September 9, 2025, carries “Emmy Winner” in its headline, but its introduction says the interview took place before Hatosy won. That conversation addressed his nomination and his approach to playing Dr. Abbot; it is not the source of his post-win remarks about Tanya and Wyle. The distinction matters when describing what Hatosy said after learning he had won.
Later award context
The Television Academy’s performer record also lists Hatosy as a 2026 nominee for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for The Pitt. That later nomination is a different category and award year from his 2025 guest-actor win.
