The nomination recognizes the film; it does not mean it has won. The ceremony is scheduled for 23 November 2026 in New York.
What the documentary follows
The film centers on children in Philipstown who make wire cars from scrap materials and race them over roughly three kilometres. The Noordkaap Bulletin describes the race as part of a broader effort to bring attention to the town and attract sponsorship for a youth upliftment programme. That is the campaign’s stated aim, not a measured outcome.
Giant Films lists the film’s runtime as 75 minutes and credits Paul Ward as director. It says Giant Films produced the documentary with Accenture Song for the Philipstown WireCar Foundation. Giant Films’ film page
What the Emmy nomination means
The Noordkaap Bulletin reports that the film is one of four nominees in the 2026 International Emmy Sports Documentary category. The other nominated titles it names are Baila, Vini (Brazil), Temps Mort (Time-Out) (Spain), and Tom Daley: 1.6 Seconds (UK). Their nomination is recognition in the same category, not a ranking or a prediction of the winner. The ceremony is scheduled for 23 November 2026 in New York; until an outcome is confirmed after that date, the accurate description is “nominee.” Noordkaap Bulletin’s report | International Emmy Awards
