No promo code was required according to the contemporaneous deal reports. The offer was available to eligible new and returning subscribers during the stated promotional window, which ended September 18, 2025. Taxes and checkout conditions could affect the final amount, so “$30” should be understood as a rounded description of the advertised $29 Essential price.

Is the $30 Paramount+ deal still available?
No. The September 2025 promotion cannot be redeemed now. Articles or social posts presenting $30 as Paramount+’s current annual price are describing an expired offer.
Paramount subsequently raised its U.S. prices on January 15, 2026. The company’s listed prices are now:
- Essential: $8.99 per month or $89.99 per year, plus applicable taxes.
- Premium: $13.99 per month or $139.99 per year, plus applicable taxes.
That makes the former $29 annual Essential promotion roughly two-thirds below the current listed Essential annual price. Paramount can introduce new promotions in the future, but a later discount should not be assumed to have the same price, eligibility rules, catalog, or expiration date.
What could you watch with Essential?
South Park
Paramount+ lists all seasons of South Park among the programming available on the service, along with selected movies, specials, and exclusive events. That made the show one of the clearest attractions of the 2025 promotion for viewers looking for a large comedy catalog rather than a single live event.

Streaming catalogs are not permanent guarantees, however. Rights, regional availability, and the selection of specials can change. The availability of South Park also does not mean that every Paramount-owned film or series is included in every plan or territory.
NFL games on CBS
The NFL element needs an important qualification. Paramount+ can stream local CBS NFL games live on Sundays during the season, subject to local-market availability and applicable viewing restrictions. In practical terms, the service can be useful for watching the CBS coverage available in your area.
Essential was not an out-of-market NFL package and did not provide every NFL game. It should not be treated as a replacement for a league-wide Sunday Ticket-style service. What you can watch depends on CBS’s schedule, your location, the relevant broadcast rights, and the service’s current terms.
Other programming
The Essential plan also included Paramount+’s broader on-demand catalog and sports such as UEFA Champions League coverage in supported markets. Exact programming can vary by country, plan, device, and current rights agreements.

Essential versus Premium: was the upgrade worth it?
During the 2025 sale, the upgrade from approximately $30 for Essential to approximately $60 for Premium doubled the annual promotional cost. Premium was aimed at viewers who valued more than the basic catalog and CBS access.
Premium’s feature set included eligible ad-free on-demand viewing, Showtime-related programming, downloads, and enhanced video options. Those benefits are not unlimited guarantees: ad-free treatment can depend on the title, downloads have plan and device restrictions, and 4K UHD, Dolby Vision, and HDR10 depend on the specific title, device, and internet connection.
For someone mainly interested in South Park and locally available CBS NFL games, Essential was the lower-cost choice. Premium made more sense for viewers who expected to download programs, wanted the additional Premium content, or had compatible equipment and a strong interest in enhanced video quality.

Need a simple way to watch Paramount+ on an older TV? Consider an Amazon Fire TV Stick. It is a separate streaming device that can provide access to supported streaming apps on a compatible television; it does not restore the expired 2025 promotion, reduce the Paramount+ subscription price, or guarantee access to every plan feature. You would still need a valid Paramount+ subscription and a compatible internet-connected TV setup.
How to judge a future Paramount+ promotion
- Check the date first. Confirm the promotion’s start and expiration dates on Paramount’s own signup page.
- Confirm eligibility. “New and returning subscribers” does not necessarily mean every account qualifies. Existing subscribers, billing-platform customers, and users who previously redeemed a promotion may be treated differently.
- Identify the plan. A low price for Essential does not automatically include Premium benefits such as downloads, Showtime-related programming, or eligible ad-free viewing.
- Read the renewal terms. A discounted first year can renew at the then-current regular price unless cancelled under the applicable terms.
- Check the sports rights. Look for local-market language and the specific network or competition. “NFL on CBS” is materially narrower than “every NFL game.”
- Verify the checkout total. Taxes, location, billing method, and the selected annual plan can change the amount charged.
