But they are not equally confirmed: Bloodlines co-writer Guy Busick identifies Kimberly as the only person he knows of who truly survived. Burke is the commonly cited second name because he makes it to that film’s end, but his long-term fate is not established as firmly.
What “survivor” means in Final Destination
In this franchise, escaping the opening catastrophe is not the same as surviving Death’s pursuit. A character may avoid a plane crash or other disaster, then die later as the deaths continue in the order they were meant to happen. It helps to separate three claims: surviving the initial disaster, reaching the end of one film, and being explicitly established later as still alive after Death’s design has been challenged. The series’ recurring premise is the premonition, escape, and subsequent pursuit, as ABC News summarizes in its overview of the franchise.

Kimberly Corman and Thomas Burke
Kimberly is the clearest canon answer
Kimberly, the protagonist of Final Destination 2, appears to die and is revived. Busick, co-writer of Final Destination: Bloodlines, says she is the one person he knows of who ever survived in the relevant sense. That makes Kimberly the strongest answer when “survivor” means a character known to have lived through Death’s design rather than merely escaped an opening disaster.
Burke is the commonly cited second survivor
Officer Thomas Burke reaches the end credits of Final Destination 2 alongside Kimberly, so he is naturally paired with her in accounts of the franchise’s survivors. Busick discusses both characters reaching that film’s end, but his statement about someone known to have survived refers specifically to Kimberly. The interview does not establish Burke’s long-term fate with the same clarity. Busick’s comments appear in this ComicBook.com interview.

Why Alex Browning and Clear Rivers do not make the lasting-survivor list
Alex Browning and Clear Rivers escape Flight 180’s crash in the first film, but that is only survival of the initial disaster. Final Destination 2 establishes that Alex died before its events, and Clear later dies as well. They are survivors of Flight 180, not lasting survivors of the pursuit across the franchise’s continuing story.
What Bloodlines changes about the count
The 2025 film Final Destination: Bloodlines takes the story back to Iris’s survival of the Skyview Tower restaurant disaster in 1968, then follows the consequences for her descendants. TIME’s interview with directors Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky discusses that premise and its family history. This means a literal claim that Kimberly and Burke are the only people ever to survive any disaster shown in the franchise would be too broad: Iris and others in that earlier backstory also survive a catastrophe. The “two” framing is best understood as referring to the commonly cited pair associated with surviving Death’s pursuit in the main modern storylines.
The official Warner Bros. film page describes college student Stefani returning home and finding someone who might break the cycle threatening her family. It lists Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky as directors and Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor as screenwriters. The page gives May 16, 2025 as the U.S. theatrical release date and May 14, 2025 as the start of international distribution.

| Character | Escaped an initial disaster? | Reached a film’s ending? | Later survival established? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kimberly Corman | Yes; she avoids the highway pileup in Final Destination 2. | Yes; she reaches the end of the film. | Busick identifies her as the only person he knows of who ever survived in the relevant sense. |
| Thomas Burke | Yes; he is involved in the events following the highway premonition. | Yes; he reaches the end of Final Destination 2 with Kimberly. | His long-term fate is not explicitly established in Busick’s cited comments. |
| Alex Browning | Yes; he leaves Flight 180 before it crashes. | Yes; he survives the first film. | No; the second film establishes that he died before its events. |
| Clear Rivers | Yes; she leaves Flight 180 before it crashes. | Yes; she survives the first film. | No; she later dies. |
| Iris | She survives the 1968 Skyview Tower disaster described in Bloodlines. | Her story is part of the film’s earlier backstory. | Her survival complicates any count that includes every catastrophe in the franchise. |
The pair is therefore a useful shorthand, not a clean, formally enumerated franchise statistic. The distinction is especially important for Burke: reaching one film’s end is supported, while a later confirmation that he stayed alive is not.
