The season introduces 18 new costumes, a five-performance premiere with a double unmasking, and the viewer-only mystery of America’s Insider.
What is new in season 14?
FOX describes season 14 as a field of 18 all-new masked identities. Costumes, performance choices and clue packages are designed to fuel guesses; they are not confirmation of a contestant’s real identity until the program unmasks that performer.
The announced costume names
FOX materials identify the following characters:

- Googly Eyes

The announcement names 17 costumes while describing an 18-costume field, so one additional costume name is not specified in that announcement. That gap is part of what viewers must watch the show to resolve.
What the clues mean
Visual motifs, props, spoken hints and staging can point toward a contestant’s career, biography or interests, but they remain clues rather than verified facts. For example, FOX’s Calla Lily preview includes the line, “Tonight I’m ready to pour my heart into this.” The line is delivered by the costumed character and does not identify the celebrity behind the mask.

Premiere format and America’s Insider
Five head-to-head performances
The premiere used five head-to-head matchups. FOX’s official episode listing gives the episode a running time of 1 hour 28 minutes and says the panel had 18 identities to uncover.
The first double-unmasking
Season 14’s premiere also featured the season’s first double-unmasking, sending two contestants out of costume in the opening episode rather than following a single-elimination reveal.

How America’s Insider works
America’s Insider is the season’s signature twist. One contestant unmasks for viewers before the premiere and provides a behind-the-scenes look, while the panel remains unaware of that person’s identity. The format gives the audience information the in-studio guesses do not have, creating a deliberate split between what viewers know and what the panel is trying to discover.
