Luke Hemsworth: the eldest brother

His international breakthrough came more gradually than Chris’s. Luke became widely recognized as Ashley Stubbs in HBO’s science-fiction drama Westworld, where he played a security chief navigating the increasingly unstable relationship between humans and artificial beings.
Luke also made one of the most memorable Hemsworth family cameos. In Thor: Ragnarok, he appears as an actor in an Asgardian stage performance portraying Thor. The sequence is deliberately comic, and it also features Matt Damon as another performer. Luke did not play Thor in the film; Chris remained the actual Thor.
Luke has continued working in action and dramatic projects. He stars in Beast, a mixed-martial-arts drama released by Lionsgate on April 10, 2026, alongside Daniel MacPherson and Russell Crowe. Chris Hemsworth: from Australian television to Marvel
Chris first became familiar to Australian viewers as Kim Hyde on Home and Away, appearing on the series from 2004 to 2007. His move to Hollywood began with a role as George Kirk in Star Trek (2009), a relatively brief appearance that nevertheless helped establish him for American audiences.
Two years later, he was cast as Thor in Marvel’s Thor (2011). The role transformed his career. He went on to play the Asgardian hero in further Thor films and in the Avengers series, developing Thor from a largely straightforward warrior into a more comic and emotionally complicated character.
Thor is his defining franchise role, but Chris’s filmography extends well beyond superhero cinema. Significant credits include the horror comedy The Cabin in the Woods, the Formula One drama Rush, In the Heart of the Sea, Bad Times at the El Royale, the action film Extraction and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.
In 2026, Chris stars in Crime 101 as jewel thief Mike Davis, opposite Mark Ruffalo and Halle Berry. The heist thriller is available on Prime Video in the United States. Reports continue to discuss his future as Thor, but Marvel has not announced a definitive end to his portrayal, so describing him as retired from the role would be inaccurate.

Chris Hemsworth’s family
Chris married Spanish actor Elsa Pataky in 2010. They have three children: daughter India Rose and twin sons Sasha and Tristan. The family has largely based its life in Australia while Chris continues to work internationally.
Liam Hemsworth: from The Last Song to The Witcher
Liam also began in Australian television, including a recurring role as Josh Taylor on Neighbours. Luke had appeared on the soap before him, making the series an early professional link between the brothers, although they did not form a three-person acting team on the show.
Liam’s breakthrough came in the 2010 film The Last Song, in which he played Will Blakelee opposite Miley Cyrus. He then became internationally known as Gale Hawthorne in The Hunger Games film series. He appeared in all four films released between 2012 and 2015, alongside Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson.
Liam and Chris both auditioned for Thor. Liam reached the later stages of casting, but Chris ultimately won the part. That near-miss is one of the clearest examples of their careers intersecting without turning them into regular screen partners.

Liam’s next major franchise role is Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher. He replaced Henry Cavill beginning with Season 4. Netflix filmed the fourth and fifth seasons back-to-back, with the fifth announced as the series’ final season. Season 4 premiered in 2025, and all eight episodes are streaming.
Liam Hemsworth’s personal life
Liam was married to Miley Cyrus from December 2018 until their divorce was finalized in January 2020. He is not Cyrus’s current husband or partner. In September 2025, Liam and Australian model Gabriella Brooks announced their engagement. Unless a later marriage is confirmed, Brooks should be described as his fiancée.
Have all three Hemsworth brothers acted together?
