When did The Good Doctor end?
ABC announced on January 11, 2024, that Season 7 would be the series’ last. The final season premiered on February 20, 2024, and the series finale aired May 21. ABC called Season 7 its “Farewell Season”; the season was abbreviated to 10 episodes, according to TVLine. In a post quoted by TVLine in 2024, Christina Chang, who played Dr. Audrey Lim, wrote, “On the eve of our final day of filming, flooded with so many memories.” She thanked “The Good Cast + The Good Crew + The Good Fans,” and added, “7 years x 126 episodes, let’s finish strong.” The seven-years-and-126-episodes figure is Chang’s description of the production, rather than an independently audited count. Paige Spara reflected on a long-running role
Paige Spara, who played Lea Dilallo, told TV Insider, “It’s seven years of my life. It’s the longest thing I’ve been a part of in my adult life.” She also said she would miss the collaborative process and the stability of the set. TV Insider’s farewell-season interview also records Fiona Gubelmann reflecting on the cast’s close working relationships.

Did everyone agree on the show’s legacy?
The farewell interviews emphasized affection for the cast, crew and experience of making the series. That warmth does not represent every view of the show’s impact. In a May 23, 2024, TIME essay, autistic culture writer Sarah Kurchak criticized the show’s portrayal of autism and the lack of autistic participation in the writing room and cast during the period she discussed.
