At The Golden Bachelorette’s Men Tell All reunion, Joan Vassos explained what Pascal Ibgui’s departure meant to her: after meeting his family and seeing his life, she could imagine a future with him. Pascal said leaving had been difficult and that he needed more time. Their exchange made the mismatch plain—Joan hoped the Fantasy Suites would give them a chance to talk, while Pascal had already decided to go.

What Joan meant by “I pictured a life with you”

When Joan joined Pascal on the reunion stage, Pascal said he hoped his departure had helped her find the right person. Joan answered that meeting his family and seeing his life had led her to picture a life with him. ABC7’s recap reports that she was describing a possibility she had seen, not saying that the two had made a commitment.

That distinction matters: Joan’s words expressed hope about what could have come next, while Pascal’s decision ended their relationship before they could explore that future together.

Why Joan thought they might still work things out

Joan linked the rupture to Pascal’s discomfort with the Tahitian bonding ceremony. She had expected the Fantasy Suites might give them time to talk through the experience and understand what they felt. By the time that conversation could happen, she said, Pascal had already made up his mind to leave. She wished him happiness.

#1 Best Overall

ABC7 and TheWrap both reported the exchange. It establishes the contrast Joan described—her expectation of another conversation and Pascal’s prior decision—without establishing private motives beyond what either person said publicly.

What Pascal said about leaving

Before Joan joined him, Pascal reflected on his exit during the Fantasy Suites stage. ABC7 reported that he remained emotional about how he had left things and said he needed more time. TheWrap quoted him telling host Jesse Palmer, “It was really difficult for me to say goodbye, I hope I didn’t hurt her — that was not my intention and she’s a wonderful woman.”

His comments acknowledged the difficulty of the goodbye, but did not change the central point of the reunion: Joan had hoped they would keep talking, and Pascal had already chosen to leave.

Pascal’s son praised his vulnerability

Pascal’s son Maxim spoke from the audience and praised his father for showing emotion. TheWrap reported Maxim saying, “My whole life you’ve always been my biggest inspiration [and] seeing you that vulnerable really showed me it’s OK to be vulnerable myself and show those feelings.” ABC7 also noted Maxim’s praise of his father’s vulnerability.
