The Game Awards 2024 delivered major franchise reveals, first gameplay looks and brief teases of projects still without public titles. These ten highlights are a curated selection—not an official ranking—and range from a new Witcher saga to an untitled project from Fumito Ueda’s studio.
The ceremony took place at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater on December 12, 2024. The Game Awards described its livestream audience as an estimated 154 million global streams, up 31% from 118 million the previous year; those are organizer-reported figures, not a count of unique viewers. Ten notable announcements from The Game Awards 2024
The entries below are grouped as a selection, not ranked by sales potential, audience interest or an official show metric. The trailers also disclosed very different amounts: some established a premise or protagonist, while others offered only a short glimpse.
1. The Witcher IV
CD PROJEKT RED revealed the first game in a new Witcher saga, with Ciri at its center. The nearly six-minute trailer depicts her responding to a monster and a village’s ritual sacrifice. It is pre-rendered cinematic footage, not gameplay captured in-engine, so it should not be treated as a demonstration of how the finished game plays. Game Director Sebastian Kalemba said, “We’re kicking off a brand-new Witcher saga, this time with Ciri as the heart of the story!” (CD PROJEKT RED’s announcement)

2. Elden Ring: Nightreign
FromSoftware’s reveal introduced a standalone game in the Elden Ring universe, rather than an expansion to the original game. Bandai Namco’s official page describes three-player co-op and lists PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. It also lists Standard, Deluxe and Collector’s editions. These current platform and edition details are on the Bandai Namco game page.
3. Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet
Naughty Dog closed the show’s major reveals with a new science-fiction game. Its trailer introduced Jordan, a bounty hunter on a distant planet. The announcement established the character and broad premise, but the reveal alone does not establish a release date or enough detail to make firm claims about the game’s mechanics or full story.

4. Borderlands 4
The show featured the first gameplay trailer for the next Borderlands. Contemporary coverage described a new planet and four Vault Hunters, with the trailer showing familiar bandits and an invading force. That is a look at the announced setting and conflict—not a basis for predicting the game’s quality or reception.
5. Split Fiction
Hazelight’s co-op adventure follows two aspiring writers trapped in simulations drawn from their own science-fiction and fantasy stories. Its shifting between those story worlds made it a distinctive counterpoint to the show’s many established franchise names. (GameSpot’s announcement roundup)

8. The Outer Worlds 2
Obsidian presented the sequel’s first gameplay trailer. Xbox Wire described a new colony, factions, quests and character customization, and listed platforms alongside a planned 2025 launch at the time. That 2025 target is the original announcement-era plan, not a current schedule. (Xbox Wire)
9. Project Century
Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio showed a third-person action project set in Japan in 1915. The early look did not establish a final public title, so “Project Century” is best understood as the name used in contemporary coverage, not necessarily the finished game’s official title.

10. gen Design’s untitled project
Fumito Ueda’s studio offered a brief teaser showing a person facing a giant, cataclysmic wave. The glimpse established little beyond its striking image. Some coverage has called the game “Project Robot,” but it was untitled in the contemporary roundup; that label should not be mistaken for a confirmed final title.
