Marvel and Disney’s official material establishes that broad premise, but trailer images alone do not confirm every suggested plot detail.
What the trailer establishes about Galactus
Marvel’s official synopsis frames Galactus as the film’s central danger: the Fantastic Four must defend Earth from a “ravenous space god” and his “enigmatic Herald,” Silver Surfer. Disney’s June 2025 final-trailer announcement describes Galactus as a planet-eating cosmic being. Those are studio descriptions of the antagonists and the stakes, not a full account of how the conflict unfolds.
The official synopsis identifies Ralph Ineson as Galactus and Julia Garner as Silver Surfer. It does not explain the Herald’s motives or specify what happens to Earth. A shot may suggest an impending event, but it should be treated as visual implication rather than confirmed plot unless the studio’s description says so. Marvel’s official film page and Disney’s film page provide the released trailer and related clips for checking what is actually shown.
A retro-futuristic setting for Marvel’s First Family
Marvel describes the film as introducing the Fantastic Four in a 1960s-inspired retro-futuristic world. That establishes the film’s period-inspired visual frame; it does not, by itself, establish that the story takes place in our own 1960s or explain how this world connects to other MCU settings. Disney’s April trailer announcement emphasized the period design alongside the team, Silver Surfer and H.E.R.B.I.E.

Why the family bond matters to the premise
The official synopsis does not present the team only as four heroes confronting a cosmic enemy. It says they must balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond while defending Earth. That makes the family dynamic part of the stated premise, rather than an inference from an isolated trailer moment. The material does not disclose how individual relationships develop or resolve.
When the trailers were released
