The Fall Guy is available to watch at home in the United States, but the latest listings do not show it as part of a current subscription-streaming service. As of August 12, 2026, viewers could rent or buy the film digitally through Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, or Fandango At Home, while physical editions were available on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Ultra HD.
That distinction matters because the movie was previously promoted as a Peacock streaming release. Its current home is better described as transactional digital viewing—renting or buying it—rather than confirmed free or subscription streaming.
What is The Fall Guy about?
Released in 2024, The Fall Guy stars Ryan Gosling as Colt Seavers, a professional stuntman who has stepped away from the business after a serious accident. When his former partner, Jody Moreno, played by Emily Blunt, begins directing her first major movie, Colt is persuaded to return to set.
His job initially appears straightforward: stand in for the film’s leading man, Tom Ryder, while helping Jody complete the production. But when Ryder disappears, Colt is drawn into a mystery involving the missing star, the movie-within-the-movie, and a conspiracy that threatens both the production and Colt’s attempt to repair his relationship with Jody.

The result is part romantic comedy, part Hollywood satire, part missing-person mystery, and part stunt showcase. The film is directed by David Leitch, whose background in action filmmaking helps give the set pieces a physical, human scale. It runs for approximately 2 hours and 6 minutes and is rated PG-13 for action and violence, drug content, and some strong language.
Where can you watch The Fall Guy?
For U.S. viewers, a JustWatch check updated August 12, 2026 listed The Fall Guy as available to rent or buy through Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home. The same check did not show a current subscription-streaming listing or a free-streaming option. Digital storefront availability, rental periods, and prices can change, so check the live listing before paying.
If Amazon Video is your preferred storefront, you can rent The Fall Guy on Amazon when the current listing is available. The film was also listed for physical purchase on DVD and Blu-ray.
The movie did have a Peacock window. Peacock announced in July 2024 that both the theatrical cut and an extended cut would premiere exclusively on the service on August 30, 2024. That announcement describes a past release window; it should not be treated as confirmation that The Fall Guy is currently included with Peacock, Netflix, Prime Video, or another subscription service.
Why the movie is so enjoyable
Gosling and Blunt give the action a romantic-comedy center
The film works best when its large action sequences are connected to Colt and Jody’s unfinished relationship. Colt is trying to return to a dangerous profession, but he is also trying to regain Jody’s trust after their breakup. Jody, meanwhile, is attempting to establish herself as a director while dealing with a production that is rapidly falling apart.
Ryan Gosling plays Colt with a combination of physical commitment and self-deprecating humor. He is capable enough to survive spectacular accidents but emotionally awkward enough to make a simple conversation with Jody feel more difficult than a stunt. Emily Blunt gives Jody authority and warmth without turning her into a passive love interest. Their chemistry is the film’s connective tissue: it makes the mystery matter and gives the action scenes an emotional payoff.

It understands the absurdity of making movies
The Fall Guy is set around a film production, so it can poke fun at Hollywood while still celebrating the people who make action movies possible. The story plays with familiar industry types, inflated movie-star egos, studio pressure, and the difference between what appears on screen and what happens behind the camera.
That movie-within-a-movie structure also lets the film move naturally between polished spectacle and backstage chaos. A stunt can be treated as a dangerous piece of real-world work one moment and as an exaggerated bit of cinematic magic the next. The tone is knowingly broad, but the affection for crews and stunt performers is more than a punchline.

The stunt work is the real attraction
The strongest reason to watch The Fall Guy is its attention to stunt performers. Colt is not simply an action hero who happens to perform stunts; stunt work is his profession, and the film repeatedly asks viewers to notice the planning, risk, repetition, and technical precision behind an impressive shot.
That emphasis is supported by a verified production achievement. Guinness World Records reported that stunt driver Logan Holladay completed 8.5 cannon rolls in a car, surpassing the previous record of seven. Guinness awarded the official certificate in March 2024.
The credit belongs to Holladay, not Ryan Gosling. It would be inaccurate to say that Gosling personally performed the record-setting cannon rolls. The broader point is that the movie’s stunt credentials are concrete: it was built around specialist performers and practical action, even though that does not mean every shot was completed without digital effects or that the actors performed every dangerous maneuver themselves.

For viewers interested in documentary-style filmmaking and production craft, this is one of the movie’s most rewarding aspects. The finished scene is entertainment, but the work behind it involves vehicles, safety coordination, camera placement, choreography, multiple takes, and careful editing. The Fall Guy makes that hidden labor part of the subject.

Universal released a 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital Extended Cut containing 20 additional minutes of footage. If you want the best home-media option, The Fall Guy 4K extended cut is the most complete physical edition to look for. It offers the theatrical film, the extended version, and a digital copy, subject to the retailer’s current redemption terms.
The bonus material is especially relevant for viewers who enjoy behind-the-scenes coverage. Universal’s home-release materials identify featurettes and other extras including:
- Breakdowns of five stunts
- Behind-the-scenes material from filming in Australia
- Alternate takes
- A gag reel
- Commentary from director David Leitch and producer Kelly McCormick
The extended edition is not automatically the right choice for everyone. A digital rental is cheaper and more convenient if you simply want to see the film once. The 4K/Blu-ray package makes more sense if you want the extra footage, physical ownership, higher-quality home presentation, or production extras about the stunt work.
A Blu-ray plus Digital Extended Cut and a standard DVD were also identified among the home-release options. The soundtrack was additionally made available on vinyl through Mutant Records, although stock and pricing are retailer-dependent.

How good is it according to critics?
The headline’s 82% figure should be treated as a rounded or historical Rotten Tomatoes score, not as a permanent rating. On August 12, 2026, Rotten Tomatoes displayed 81% from 377 critic reviews and an 84% audience score. Scores can change as reviews are added, reclassified, or otherwise updated.

- Compact low profile design makes it perfect for laptops and works with any HDMI video device
The critics consensus highlighted the movie’s combination of action, romance, comedy, and the chemistry between Gosling and Blunt. That description captures why the film has had lasting appeal: it is not trying to be only a stunt picture, only a detective story, or only a romantic comedy. Its most successful scenes let all of those elements operate at once.
Is it connected to the original TV series?
Yes. The 2024 film is inspired by the 1980s television series The Fall Guy, which starred Lee Majors as a stuntman who also worked as a bounty hunter. The new movie is not simply a scene-for-scene continuation of that show. It uses the title and the stuntman premise as a foundation for a contemporary Hollywood action comedy.
That means newcomers do not need to watch the original series first. If you enjoy the 2024 film and want to explore its source material, the 1980s show is best approached as a separate companion rather than required preparation.
Should you watch The Fall Guy?
Watch it if you want a breezy action movie with real stunt culture at its center, a strong romantic pairing, and enough Hollywood self-mockery to keep the formula lively. It is especially well suited to viewers who enjoy seeing how action scenes are made, rather than treating spectacular movement as anonymous background noise.
It may be less satisfying if you want a tightly realistic thriller or a serious documentary about stunt work. The Fall Guy is still a highly polished studio entertainment, and its conspiracy plot is deliberately playful. But its affection for stunt professionals gives the film more personality than a generic effects-driven action movie.

1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIs the 82% Rotten Tomatoes score still current?
The score should be dated because Rotten Tomatoes ratings can change. The page displayed 81% from 377 critic reviews and an 84% audience score on August 12, 2026.
Did Ryan Gosling perform the record-setting car roll?
No. Guinness World Records credited stunt driver Logan Holladay with completing 8.5 cannon rolls in a car. Gosling should not be credited with personally performing that record.
What is included in the extended edition?

The Bottom Line
The verdict: The Fall Guy is available to watch at home, but in the latest U.S. listings that means renting or buying it digitally rather than accessing a confirmed subscription stream. Its 80%-plus Rotten Tomatoes reception is only part of the appeal: the film stands out because Gosling and Blunt have genuine chemistry, David Leitch gives the action a practical foundation, and the story treats stunt performers as the professionals behind the spectacle.
