The Faithful is a six-episode drama about five women in Genesis, not a broad survey of the Bible. Its focus gives the story an intimate family scale, but also makes the comparison with Prime Video’s biblical dramas depend on what a viewer wants: a women-led account of inheritance, rivalry, and family formation, or a larger, more expansive biblical saga.

What is The Faithful: Women of the Bible about?

FOX announced The Faithful as a limited drama based on the Book of Genesis, told through Sarah, Hagar, Rebekah, Leah, and Rachel. Its announced story follows Sarah’s longing for a child and the consequences of involving Hagar; Rebekah’s role in shaping the futures of her sons; and the rivalry between sisters Leah and Rachel over love and motherhood. These are the series’ dramatic premises, not a claim that its interpretation is a definitive account of Genesis. FOX’s announcement names Carol Mendelsohn, Julie Weitz, and Rene Echevarria as executive producers; Echevarria wrote the pilot and serves as showrunner. FOX announcement

How does it compare with Prime Video’s biblical dramas?

The comparison is clearest when it is about approach, rather than treating “Prime Video’s shows” as one uniform benchmark. Two specific titles viewers may encounter there are The Chosen and House of David. The available series information establishes The Faithful’s premise and episode grouping, but does not establish an objective ranking of these dramas or support claims about critical consensus, budgets, or audience reception.

Dimension The Faithful What the comparison can—and cannot—show
Point of view Its announced frame centers five women in Genesis: Sarah, Hagar, Rebekah, Leah, and Rachel. That makes women’s family relationships the organizing lens. The supplied platform listings do not provide enough evidence for a scene-by-scene comparison of how The Chosen or House of David distribute perspective.
Source text FOX describes it as based on Genesis, with conflicts drawn from the families of Abraham and his descendants. A premise and synopsis cannot establish how closely each scene follows the text or how the dramatization resolves interpretive questions. Viewers who care about fidelity should compare particular episodes with Genesis rather than infer accuracy from the marketing description.
Character development The episode groupings give Sarah and Hagar, Rebekah, then Leah and Rachel their own stretches of the six-episode story. This structure signals distinct character clusters, but episode summaries alone do not prove how deeply any character is developed on screen.
Pacing and scale Six episodes are arranged as three two-hour FOX installments in the announced U.S. broadcast rollout. That compact event format suggests a finite story rather than an open-ended series, but it is not evidence by itself that the drama moves too quickly or has a smaller production scale than either named comparator.
Emotional emphasis The announced conflicts concern infertility and family formation, favoritism and inheritance, and rivalry between sisters. Those stakes point toward intimate family drama. Whether its emotional effect is more compelling than another series’ depends on the performances and execution, not the premise alone.

So the “can’t live up to” verdict is best understood as a preference, not a settled fact: viewers looking for a women-led Genesis adaptation may find the focus appealing, while viewers expecting a more expansive biblical saga may prefer another kind of series. The evidence available for this review does not support a categorical claim that The Faithful is inferior to The Chosen or House of David.

How many episodes are in The Faithful?

There are six episodes. FOX announced a three-week U.S. event with three two-hour installments, with the finale scheduled for Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026. The Prime Video listing also organizes six episodes into three story groupings: Sarah and Hagar in episodes 1–2, Rebekah in episodes 3–4, and Leah and Rachel in episodes 5–6. The platform’s displayed episode dates should not be taken as the original FOX broadcast schedule. FOX’s rollout announcement · Prime Video episode listing

Where can you watch The Faithful?

In FOX’s announced U.S. rollout, the series aired on FOX and was to stream on Hulu the following day. Prime Video and Disney+ also list the 2026 series and its six episodes on the pages checked for this article. A listing does not guarantee that the title is available to stream or purchase in every country, or that the same options remain in every storefront. Is The Faithful worth watching?

Consider it if you want a compact Genesis drama that gives Sarah, Hagar, Rebekah, Leah, and Rachel the central perspective and builds its plot around family and inheritance. If your priority is a sweeping biblical saga, the premise alone does not establish that The Faithful will deliver the scale or sustained character arcs you want. A Bible or Genesis study edition can be a useful companion for readers who want to compare the adaptation with its source, but the show’s stated basis in Genesis does not, on its own, settle questions of interpretation.
