Spoilers for Seasons 1–4: In the Netflix continuity, Violet and the late Viscount Edmund Bridgerton have eight children and three currently documented grandchildren: Edmund Bridgerton, August “Augie” Basset, and Lord Elliot Featherington. The book family tree is broader, so Julia Quinn’s descendants must be kept separate from the television canon.
Spoilers for Bridgerton Seasons 1–4: This family tree follows the Netflix television continuity through Season 4, including Benedict and Sophie’s marriage and the births of Edmund Bridgerton and Lord Elliot Featherington.

#1 Best Overall
Edmund Bridgerton, the former Viscount Bridgerton, died before the birth of his youngest child, Hyacinth. His death is one of the defining events in the family’s history, shaping Violet’s parenting and Anthony’s early assumption of responsibility for his brothers and sisters.
In birth order, Violet and Edmund’s children are:
- Anthony
- Benedict
- Colin
- Daphne
- Eloise
- Francesca
- Gregory
- Hyacinth
1. Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma
Anthony Bridgerton is Violet and Edmund’s eldest child and first son. After Edmund’s death, Anthony becomes Viscount Bridgerton and takes on the duties of family head. His relationship with Kate Sharma forms the central romance of Season 2.
Kate Sharma, later Kate Bridgerton, is the daughter of Mr. Sharma. She was raised by Lady Mary Sharma alongside her younger sister, Edwina. After marrying Anthony, Kate becomes Viscountess Bridgerton.

Edmund Bridgerton is Anthony and Kate’s son. He is named after Anthony’s late father and is the heir to the Bridgerton viscounty. Kate and Anthony return from India after Kate gives birth to him, making baby Edmund the newest Bridgerton introduced in Season 4.
He is also Violet’s grandson and the second Bridgerton character to carry the name Edmund: his grandfather was Viscount Edmund Bridgerton.
2. Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie
Benedict Bridgerton is Violet and Edmund’s second child and second son. An artist and an unconventional free spirit, Benedict has generally resisted the rigid expectations placed on members of the ton.
In Season 4, he meets Sophie, who is initially presented under the identity Sophie Baek, at Violet’s masquerade ball. By the end of the season, Sophie is Benedict’s wife and a member of the Bridgerton family.
No child of Benedict and Sophie is identified in Netflix’s current official family-tree guide. That is a statement about the documented television continuity as of Season 4—not proof that the couple can never have children in a future season.
3. Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington
Colin Bridgerton is Violet and Edmund’s third child. His longtime friendship with the Featherington family eventually becomes a marriage when he and Penelope Featherington fall in love.
Penelope is also the writer formerly known as Lady Whistledown. After marrying Colin, she becomes Penelope Bridgerton, although her child is identified through the Featherington family title.
Their child: Lord Elliot Featherington
Lord Elliot Featherington is Colin and Penelope’s newborn son. He is Violet’s grandson, but Netflix presents him as Lord Elliot Featherington because he inherits the Featherington title through Penelope’s family line. Calling him simply “Elliot Bridgerton” misses that important part of his status.

Elliot is therefore both a Bridgerton descendant through his father and the heir to the Featherington family through his mother.
4. Daphne Bridgerton and Simon Basset
Daphne Bridgerton is Violet and Edmund’s fourth child and eldest daughter. She marries Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings, and becomes Duchess Daphne Basset.
Their child: August “Augie” Basset
August Basset, commonly called Augie, is Daphne and Simon’s son. He is the heir to the Basset dukedom and the first grandchild of Violet Bridgerton identified in Netflix’s official family-tree materials.
Some family-tree lists based on Julia Quinn’s novels include additional children for Daphne and Simon. Those later children belong to the book continuity and should not be added to the Netflix tree unless the show establishes them.

Eloise Bridgerton is Violet and Edmund’s fifth child. An avid reader and an outspoken critic of society’s expectations, Eloise is notably unwilling to marry merely because the ton considers marriage the proper destination for a young woman.
Through Season 4, Netflix’s official family-tree guide does not identify a spouse or child for Eloise. Her branch of the television family tree therefore remains open.
6. Francesca Bridgerton and John Stirling
Francesca Bridgerton is Violet and Edmund’s sixth child. She marries John Stirling, Earl of Kilmartin, and becomes Countess of Kilmartin.
John dies suddenly within the first year of their marriage, leaving Francesca a young widow. She remains connected to the Stirling family, including John’s cousin Michaela Stirling.
Michaela is not Violet’s grandchild. She belongs to the Stirling branch and is connected to the Bridgertons through Francesca’s late husband. Netflix’s current official guide does not identify a child of Francesca and John.
7. Gregory Bridgerton
Gregory Bridgerton is Violet and Edmund’s seventh child. In the current Netflix continuity, Gregory is still a student at Eton and has no identified spouse or child.
His place in the television family tree is consequently straightforward: he is one of Violet and Edmund’s eight children, but he does not yet have a documented descendant.
8. Hyacinth Bridgerton
Hyacinth Bridgerton is the youngest of Violet and Edmund’s eight children. She was born after Edmund’s death and is eager to make her own debut in the ton.
Netflix’s current official family-tree guide does not identify a spouse or child for Hyacinth. Like Gregory and Eloise, her branch may develop in a later season, but no descendants should be added to a Season 4 television tree as fact.
Violet Bridgerton’s confirmed grandchildren
The safest current list is the group of grandchildren named or officially documented by Netflix through Season 4:
| Grandchild | Parents | Family status |
|---|---|---|
| Edmund Bridgerton | Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma | Heir to the Bridgerton viscounty |
| August “Augie” Basset | Daphne Bridgerton and Simon Basset | Heir to the Basset dukedom |
| Lord Elliot Featherington | Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington | Heir to the Featherington title and a Bridgerton descendant |
This is a named-and-officially-documented list, not a prediction about future births. Violet’s character biography previously named August and Elliot, while the broader Season 4 family-tree guide adds baby Edmund after his introduction. The difference reflects the timing and scope of the Netflix materials rather than a contradiction about parentage.
Rank #4
Who is connected to the Bridgertons but is not Violet’s descendant?
A family tree becomes confusing when spouses, in-laws, cousins, and household members are treated as descendants. These important characters belong beside Violet’s line rather than beneath it:

- Newton: Anthony and Kate’s corgi—not a descendant, however central he is to the Bridgerton household.
Netflix show canon versus Julia Quinn book canon
The Netflix series and Julia Quinn’s novels share the core Bridgerton premise, but they are not one interchangeable family tree. Julia Quinn’s official family-tree materials cover the eight novels and their later “Happily Ever After” or second-epilogue material. That book tree includes marriages and children that have not been established on television.
The clearest way to avoid confusion is to label every claim:
| If you are asking… | Use this continuity |
|---|---|
| Who are Violet’s grandchildren shown or officially identified by Netflix through Season 4? | Edmund Bridgerton, August “Augie” Basset, and Lord Elliot Featherington |
| What happens to the families after the events of the novels? | Julia Quinn’s book canon and second-epilogue material |
| Can book-only children be added to the television tree? | No—not unless the Netflix series establishes them |
| Are every character’s relationship and surname the same in both versions? | No. The adaptation changes significant family and romantic details. |
Readers who want the expanded literary lineage can read the Bridgerton books, but the novels should be treated as source material rather than as a list of television facts. The Bridgertons: Happily Ever After is especially relevant for readers looking for the Bridgerton second epilogues and later family developments. These materials belong in a clearly labeled book-canon section because the adaptation has already changed important details, including Francesca’s romantic storyline and the presentation of Sophie’s family background.
Common family-tree mistakes
- Calling Elliot “Elliot Bridgerton” without qualification: He is Colin and Penelope’s son, but Netflix identifies him as Lord Elliot Featherington because of the Featherington inheritance.
- Adding all of the book descendants to the Netflix chart: The novels contain later-generation information that the show has not yet confirmed.
- Calling Michaela Stirling Violet’s grandchild: Michaela is John Stirling’s cousin and is connected through Francesca’s marriage.
- Assuming an undocumented child does not exist: The absence of a child from the current official guide only means that Netflix has not identified one in the available television materials.
- Counting Newton as family lineage: Anthony and Kate’s corgi is part of the household, not part of the genealogy.
How many grandchildren does Violet Bridgerton have?
Through Bridgerton Season 4, Netflix’s official materials identify three grandchildren of Violet Bridgerton: Edmund Bridgerton, August “Augie” Basset, and Lord Elliot Featherington. That number may change if later seasons introduce additional births, but it is the complete documented television list at this point.
