What is the story about?

Disney+ describes the story as taking place amid a publishing industry in flux: Andy is more mature, and Emily has become a major player at a luxury brand. The setup brings the characters back into fashion media while placing their careers in a changed industry.
McKenna said the sequel needed to be more than a tribute to fans: “It’s not meant to just be a love letter to the fans. It had to be something, a story that we found meaty and something we could really talk about how the world has changed,” as quoted by The Walt Disney Company in its 2026 coverage.
