Halloween coverage began before October 31. ELLE’s account places Victoria Justice’s party on October 21, followed by the New York Restoration Project’s Hulaween Gala on October 24. The most striking transformations
Heidi Klum as Medusa, with Tom Kaulitz turned to stone
Klum’s Medusa was a full-body transformation, with green scales and snakes. The Associated Press reported that she spent 10 hours getting into costume—her preparation time for this look, not a general measure of costume-making. Her husband, Tom Kaulitz, complemented the mythological reference as a man turned to stone.

Klum told the AP: “So I wanted to be really, really like a really ugly, ugly Medusa. And I feel like we nailed it — to the teeth,” she said before pointing to fangs in her mouth. The pairing gives the costume a clear visual punchline as well as the elaborate makeup and prosthetic work.
Ed Sheeran as Pennywise
Sheeran took on Pennywise the Clown from It. TheWrap described him posing in front of the Brooklyn Bridge, while Vogue also identified the character. The recognizable horror reference and the dramatic setting make this one of the clearest character recreations in the roundup.

Janelle Monáe as the Cat in the Hat
Monáe’s Cat in the Hat look was reported by TheWrap, Vogue, and the AP. The AP also noted that her Halloween festivities included other looks and an event, so the Cat in the Hat was part of a broader celebration rather than the only costume associated with her season.
Music and internet culture, brought to life
Paris Hilton as Britney Spears
Hilton paid tribute to Spears in the red catsuit from the “Oops!…I Did It Again” music video, according to Harper’s Bazaar. Vogue also identified Hilton’s Britney Spears looks. The specific outfit turns a familiar music-video image into an immediately legible costume.
