Did the October 2026 production pause change the date?
That has not been established. On October 5, 2026, DC Studios said production was temporarily paused while Reeves focused on a family matter. The Los Angeles Times reported that the film remained scheduled for February 18, 2028, but it was too early to know whether the pause would affect the release date.
“Production on ‘The Batman Part II’ has been temporarily paused while Matt Reeves focuses on a family matter. Matt has the full support of DC Studios and we look forward to continuing the journey soon.”

The Los Angeles Times lists Robert Pattinson, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell, Jayme Lawson and Gil Perez-Abraham among the returning cast. Newcomers it names include Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Charles Dance, Sebastian Koch and Brian Tyree Henry. Roles for the newcomers should not be treated as confirmed: reported role details remain reporting or rumor.
Plot details remain under wraps. The Los Angeles Times says the film is expected to take place after the 2024 HBO series The Penguin; that is an expectation reported by the paper, not a confirmed official synopsis.
