What is the latest filming update on The Batman: Part II?
Filming was reported to have begun in June 2026, after earlier delays to the sequel’s release schedule. TheWrap reported that director Matt Reeves shared a set photo announcing the start of production. Screen Daily also reported UK production activity and Pattinson’s return as Batman.
That start was followed by a pause. TheWrap reported on October 5, 2026, that production had temporarily stopped while Reeves stepped away for personal reasons. Reports available by October 8 continued to describe the production as paused. They do not establish how long the pause will last or give a confirmed date for filming to resume.
Did Robert Pattinson officially confirm the update?
The reporting about the October production pause attributes the update to production news coverage, not to a new confirmation from Pattinson. In September, Pattinson characterized the sequel as a “left turn,” as reported by TheWrap. That brief description does not reveal what the story will do differently, and it should not be treated as a plot explanation or confirmation of the filming pause.

When did filming start, and what happened next?

Is The Batman: Part II still scheduled for February 18, 2028?
February 18, 2028 is the currently reported release date. It is a scheduled date, not a guarantee: the available reports do not say whether the production pause will affect it. Until Warner Bros. or the filmmakers announce a change, it is most accurate to describe the film as scheduled for that date while noting that the pause’s duration and effect remain unknown.

The Batman: Part II is the follow-up to The Batman (2022), with Robert Pattinson returning as Batman. The production start, the later temporary pause, and the reported release date are separate points in the film’s timeline; none establishes when shooting will resume or guarantees that the release schedule will hold.
